Safe to Run Dyson V7 with a Powertool Battery Adaptor?

Hi, just bought a Dyson V7 advanced and feel like i need to constantly recharge the battery (half my house is carpeted, so need to run the vacuum at Max which drains the battery pretty quick)

Looking online i found some adapters to use powertool batteries for the Dyson V7, such as ozito, makita, ryobi, etc.
https://crossfirepower.com/products/for-ozito-battery-dyson-…

Is it safe for either the battery or the vacuum to be used using these batteries? I have plenty laying around in the garage and i feel it would be super convenient to easily swap the battery once it runs out to complete cleaning the house.

Any thoughts or past experience?

Yes they work well, got my Dewalt adapter from Amazon.

    • Can you still use Dyson adapter to charge or need to use the Dewalt charger?

    $90 for a basic 3D printed adapter??

…Yes, they'll work but at that price you could find something better value or DIY. I'm also not sure about voltage differences - my V10 has a 6 cell battery so the nominal voltage is higher than the 5-cell Ozito batteries and I dunno if the low voltage cutoff sensors would complain.

    • I know, 90 is pretty steep, so maybe wait for some eBay sale too her them (they also have an ebay page)

I recently bought the Ryobi adapter from that website for my Dyson V8 and love it. Swapping out the battery when it's dead with another spare Ryobi is so convenient and the battery lasts longer than the aging Dyson one. Only slight downside is that you can't hang the Dyson on the wall mount anymore because the battery/adapter is too big. There might be a way to modify the wall mount to make it work but I haven't worked it out yet.
Also one thing to note is that the trigger will work differently - you don't need to hold it down anymore, it's just an on/off switch. Could be a pro or con depending on what you like but I don't mind it.

They should work fine, but Dyson motors are not designed for running longer than the built-in battery holds. Charging provides the time required for the motor to cool down. Otherwise Dyson would have loved to make them swappable and sell you backup batteries.

More like they want you to buy their new-gen releases every year like we do with phones these days.

      • If they are so good as research, why do they change fittings, chargers all the time? Yet they dont tackle the most obvious things like replaceable batteries, on/off switch rather than trigger, supplying decent attachments like the did back in the early 2000s.

      Citation required.

      • Not an answer but chatgpt says this "If the vacuum does overheat, Dyson vacuums are equipped with safety mechanisms that automatically shut off the motor to prevent damage. Letting the device cool down for about 30 minutes before use again is recommended in such cases."

        • That comment is a year and a half old. Why would you even reply to it, and with chatgpt garbage? Of course it has a thermal cutout, that wasn't the "citation required".

  • i have a black and decker with a ryobi 18v.
    works fine

  • I just bought a Makita adapter for a V6 off Aliexpress and it seems to work great. Was only $23 or so.

    • Much better price! But don't think they will have for ozito, will check anyway! Thanks for the info

Get the Einhell adapter - they’re the same manufacturer as Ozito power x change.

    • Awesome. Can I ask what amp hours your batteries are, and how long runtime you get please?

    • Can you still use Dyson adapter to charge or need to use the Dewalt charger?

  • Get a Dyson Outsize+ 2hr run time

  • I wish there was an adapter for the Dreame V9 battery, my vac's battery is slowly dying.
