Yeah, mate, good deal; no need to push it that hard, tho.

some of you will understand the assigment

      • Yeah? Ok.

Anyway, the deal is particularly good for the 91%, at $22/kg of cocoa. Goes great with red grapes (which aren't so dear at this time of year).

          totally true!

Chocolate has a number of potential benefits, although it's important to note that these can vary based on the type of chocolate and the amount consumed. Here are a few of the potential benefits of chocolate:

Improves mood: Chocolate contains compounds that can help boost serotonin and endorphins, which are neurotransmitters that play a role in regulating mood and reducing feelings of anxiety and depression.

Boosts cognitive function: Some studies have suggested that the flavanols found in dark chocolate may improve cognitive function, including memory and focus.

Promotes heart health: Consuming moderate amounts of dark chocolate has been linked to lower blood pressure and improved blood flow, which can help reduce the risk of heart disease.

Contains antioxidants: Chocolate, particularly dark chocolate, contains antioxidants that can help protect the body against damage from free radicals.

Enhances exercise performance: Some studies have suggested that consuming dark chocolate may improve exercise performance, possibly due to its flavanol content.

However, it's important to note that these potential benefits are often associated with dark chocolate, which typically contains higher levels of cocoa solids than other types of chocolate. Additionally, chocolate can be high in sugar and calories, so it should be consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet.

High cadmium level of a 85% cocoa product from Frey

    • Mmmm… nothing gets me going like a taste of Cadmium in the mornin'.

      • I prefer it at night, tbh; it makes me glow πŸ‘½

    • +1

Yeah, that's a worry. I saw it somewhere else here Lindt is also contaminated, but with lead instead of cadmium. Is anything left, but GMO soybean margarine with GMO HFCS, "natural" flavours and food colouring? Oh, I see… 🀨

    • cadmium…is a great track by superchunk

  • this has got to be an ad….surely?

      ChatGPT perhaps?

  • The spiel is enough to put me off. Not that this would be a case in point but Ozbargain needs to add a new type of neg (orange maybe?) for deals where the spiel is grossly exaggerated bs - eg certain torch ads - or designed to mislead.

The Frey milk "extra fine" chocolate is so so imo - primarily because they've bulked it up and changed the flavour with some ground hazelnut - barely worth $2. Getting harder and harder to find decent plain milk chocolate at a decent price. Yes I like dark choc but milk choc is a nice change.

      That sounds delicious, actually.

      • It's in the "fine print", under the much bolder MILK EXTRA FINE. Tried it before some months ago, forgot about the contamination, er padding. Won't fall for it again.

I nearly bought some today. Thought it was just milk chocolate but no, has powdered nuts to make it cheaper I guess. I put it back.

      • +2

Yes they've intentionally disguised that via the label design. No doubt thought that deceiving people would help sell the product at least once. I've voted with my wallet and won't buy that or any of their other offerings in future.

        • Just think of it as nut milk, no? Plenty of nut milks β€” almond, cashew, hazelnut, macadamia… β€” selling at a premium over regular cow's milk, no? Plus, it's cleaner too (even if it's not organic, i.e. pesticide free, I'm pretty sure the cows' milk in milk chocolates ain't it either, and pesticides, just like mercury, concentrates the further up you go on the food chain β€” especially on milk!).
