    Encouraging gambling on sports, using free alcohol as the incentive …

    I think that 'Scotty from marketing' may have misread the room.

      Sports gambling advertising should be banned. Free alcohol at sports events - just fuel on the fire 🔥

      How so? This doesn't look like a gambling app.

        So 'Free beer for tipping with FANZO' means what then?

        • Footy tipping. Nothing on the website indicates it is gambling. Seems like a good way for pubs to get customers in.

            @Aureus: And footy tipping is?

            Perhaps the hip new thing, CHatGPT can help us understand.

            Footy tipping is a popular Australian term for a type of sports betting game in which participants predict the outcomes of Australian rules football matches. The game is typically played among friends, family, or coworkers, with each participant placing a small wager on their predictions.

            Before each round of matches, participants select the team they think will win in each game, with bonus points often awarded for correctly predicting the winning margin or other aspects of the game. At the end of the season, the participant with the most correct predictions is declared the winner and awarded the prize pool.

            Footy tipping is a popular social activity in Australia, particularly during the Australian Football League (AFL) season, which runs from March to September. It is enjoyed by many people who have a passion for sports and a competitive spirit.

              @OZKap: There is no wager placed by participants in this footy tipping competition. So it's not gambling.

            • +1

              @OZKap: I have been doing footy tips for decades and never gambled on it (ie. never paid money to enter a tipping comp).

          • @Aureus: Oh wow, I just had a lengthier look at the website, and I think you might be right. I guess I have been 'over-sensitised' by the constant/incessant promotion of sports gambling that has bombarded all forms of media in the last five years or so; so I wrongly assumed this was essentially more of the same.

            If this is indeed a not-for-profit app designed merely to facilitate the ongoing tracking of the comparative accuracy of game outcome predictions among groups of mates, then I have no problem with that.

    • It’s free to tip you don’t bet any money

    Not bad if u enjoy a beer & footy, no gambling required, did free all season last year, a free or half price beer each week is an ozbargain in my eyes, nrl or afl I believe, don't like it, don't do it, no need to winge about it, let people be happy if causing no harm 🙂
