What Pressure Washer for Bowdens Own

Hey everyone
Looking for a pressure washer to use with out Bowdens Own Snow gun

We have tried a a Ryobi one that was $90 odd and also a repco brand one but both didn’t make the snow gun really foam up like you see on the videos

Anyone recommend one that really does a good job like the videos show?

  • Bowden's Own have a comprehensive guide to "Selecting a Pressure Washer" on their website.

I guess being an OzB'er, find the cheapest on the list, though it won't be the best

    • Will check it out thanks

Edit - checked them out and wow there is a lot to choose from hahaha

"Or save yourself all this hassle and simply don't get a Karcher machine…. "

      Shots fired! Haha

Personally I use a Karcher K5 that I've had for 4 years. It works really well with my Bowden's stuff… but has needed 2 (in warranty) repairs. One of those repairs saw me without my machine for 2 months.

So yeah, probably would reconsider the Karcher in future due to quality (and service) issues, but damn it's great 99% of the time.

    • This. Also reducing the orifice on foaming gun also increases foam.

Karcher K2 works fine for my son. He gets his cars seriously foamed up. I think the trick is to use warm water in the foam bottle.

If you want serious foam, try the blue truck wash from Supercheap.

    • Super job with the quoting. I'm impressed 👍😁

        Thank you.

  • I use an older Karcher Winner 11, it works great. My neighbour has the same problem with his ryobi, it sprays very little. Mine isn’t as powerful as the new Karcher washers so I add a higher rate of solution to water. The lower the pressure the more solution required. Maybe this will help.

    • Thanks
      What pressure is yours?

I use a Gerni 3600 with my Bowden's Own, nice and snowy.

  • I use the meguiar's snow foam cannon kit with the ryobi pressure washer also need to buy the adapter on sale with discount codes paid like 60 bux + 6 dollars for the adapter

  • Most pressure washers will be fine, difference is in the snow cannon.

Using Kärcher’s foam cannon on my K3, I get slightly sudsy water. Using a “bear force foam gun” from AliExpress I get the foam you’re talking about - huge difference.

    • We are using the Bowdens own one

    • Totally agree,
Most of the common snow cannon's (Bowden's included) are very average if you want thick foam.

Get something like an mjjc foam cannon pro v2 (or a good knock off from Healand AliExpress store), with adjustable fan, spray, orifice and mesh filters.

It will make a world of difference for getting thick foam.

  • I use a Bosch AQT 37 with my Bowden’s own Snow Blow Cannon. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the Meguiar's Wash & Wax car wash that I’ve been using for years work with the foam gun!. While it may not foam as much as shown on some of those youtube car detailing videos, it foams enough and stays long enough for me to be able to go over the entire car with a wash mitt. I had the foam gun for little over two years now.

  • I use a bosch pressure washer with the bowdens snow gun. Its quite good.

  • I've got a Karcher K7 and while it works I wouldn't recommend it. It's the one with the integrated hose reel and the hose drives me absolutely nuts. I pull it out, lay it out flat and straight yet as soon as I start moving around it winds itself up into loops. On top of that it occasionally doesn't turn on. I think it gets an air lock or something as removing the mains water hose seems to fix it. Admittedly I got it for an amazing price but once it dies I'll be replacing it with something other than another Karcher.

Run the garden hose for a few minutes before attaching to the pressure washer. This should avoid air locks.

      • I always do as I start with the wheels and use the hose to clean off the brush and mit between wheels before moving on the body and the pressure washer.

  • I bought a top of the line Gerni from Bunnings, following the Bowdens guide
I've had 2x units make a POP and had water pissing out near the inlet from within the case.
The first one, Bunnings replaced it straight away (as they should have)
The second one, apparently policy is to send the unit off for evaluation and repairs, which could take 6-8 weeks (but likely 2 weeks, according to the tool shop clerk)

This is absolutely ridiculous for the price of the machine. I deliberately bought a metal pump unit to avoid this crap. I assume a plastic inlet hose is what breaks.

I will keep on replacing this machine under its 7 year warranty (if they actually honour anything!) after which i'll likely consider a petrol unit. I am merely washing a car fortnightly, and an annual patio clean, I always follow the manual for priming and ensuring the unit doesn't overheat.

Note that Gerni is now under the Ozito brand, so potentially has a quality decline following this. I understand Karcher and Ryobi don't fare much better.

    • I had a Gerni 5000 for years and upgraded to 7000. Apparently now Bunnings will only replace them if it’s under $300. Anything over that threshold, will be sent away for a repair and it could take weeks.

      • Yes, correct - the lower end models fall under that threshold and are a straight swap.
It's a shame, I buy Bunnings over Total Tools or online because of the easy exchange policy. Will likely buy a Makita or a Stihl with brass pump head next time around
