    Date night sorted.

  • Don't eat them if you suffer from diabetes. They are too sweet.

    • I actually bought a box of dates from my local coles, which were imported from Saudi Arabia. $6.90 for a box of 1KG. and they are too sweet and sticky like Medjool.

Actually, it recommended to take 2-3 dates per day for type 2 diabetes. The magnesium can help control blood sugar.

  • Delicious dates, love them

  • Are these ones good quality?

Not going to be a popular comment but please don't buy Medjoul dates for Ramadan, they are made in the occupied territories by settlers that are oppressing and ethnically cleansing the indigenous population, no thanks.

      "Country of Origin:
      Produce of USA"

    • +6

That’s only if the dates are from Israel. As the plantations were stolen from the Palestinians.
Coles generally only sells dates from USA and/or Mexico

Very interesting; I just googled to validate your claims and learned out that there was no Israel before 1948 and plenty of references to Palestine. If youre claiming Canaan on the basis of religion, arent you meant to be roaming "the land" until your messiah comes?

But most importantly, why spout this crap on Ozbargain? Just have some Palestinian bagels and borscht and chill, ffs…

      • The Jewish people became Christian. Israel is the ancestral homeland of the Christian people who were once Jewish.

      "ethnically cleansing the indigenous population"

      Bit of a weird comment.

Presumably what you are implying is that Jews are ethnically cleansing Palestinians.

I apologise if I have misunderstood, but will be responding on the basis above.

Jews are indigenous to the land of Israel. Jews are from Judea which just so happens to be in Judea.

When you talk about ethnic cleansing, are you referring to the 1948 war, where Israel declared it's independence following the acceptance of the UN partition plan of Mandatory Palestine, and subsequently was attacked by the neighbouring Arab countries who tried to wipe the newly formed state off the map, and ended up gaining more territory that when it started? Or, the 1967 war where Israel again fought a defensive war against its neighbouring Arab countries who tried to wipe it off the map, and ended up gaining more territory than when it started?

Mate I don't want to turn it into a political discussion but all of the above 'Facts' have been debunked by not only Arab but Israeli historians. Israel ethnically cleansed 850 thousand native Palestinians in 1948. the ''we are native"" argument only started in the early 2000s by Ashkenazi Jews. by Palestinians I include Christians and Jews who by the way lived side by side for centuries. Israel is a colonial project, Joe Biden said if there was no Israel in the middle east, we would've created one, his speech is on YouTube.

Palestinian Jews that were there before the Balfour declaration have every right to be there, all the latvian russian American Ethiopian German Jews that purchased a ticket to Palestine with the intent to occupy are simply THAT invaders and colonisers. I probably have more Aboriginal blood in me than these people have middle eastern blood.

Having said that all of the above had Israel allowed the Palestinians to stay and gave them full rights there would be no issue there.

and I can prove it in 1943 Lebanon gained its independence and France decided the Christians have a majority through a dodgy census made that year and gave them full power. The Christians in Lebanon instead decided to share power with Lebanese Moslems instead of resorting to massacres and ethnic cleansing. did you see any Arab country invade boycott antagonize Lebanon? no. The core of the issue is the dispossession of the Palestinian people.

Don't disagree with the overall sentiment (the history of the area precedes modern history and is obviously far more complex than anything written here - not that I'm an expert on ancient tribes, ethnicities etc, far from it), but the deal neg makes no sense if pollopollo is correct. Ditto for johnfuller below.

        "Jews are ethnically cleansing Palestinians"

yes they are killing Palestinians daily, control Palestinian water supply, electricity supply, not allowed out of Palestine without some kind of work visa and passing the checkpoints takes hours.. i have friends and family who have been there so these are facts..

  • From $45/5kg to $60/5kg in mere 2-3 years and people say there's no inflation. Not sure if it's inflation or profiteering of ColesWorth though.

Btw, same price in Woolies too (Imported from Mexico). Not all stores stock them though.
