  • Interesting comment from an online review:

"No, Trost lager is probably best taken in a Norwegian wood during the depths of a snowy winter with one’s taste buds frozen shut while a reindeer pokes one in the snout. Watch that antler! Ouch!"

I think I will stick to an imported Guinness with one of those nitrogen gizmo thingamajig widgets at the bottom of the can.

    • Yikes

        Was beaten to that review!
First to pop up in search.
But if it's like Great Northern - I'll avoid!!

        • Very well written 😂

        • Nothing alike.

I hate Great Northern, but Trost is ok.

It's just a basic lager. Sort of a Broken Shackles, SOL, Kirin..ish lager.

Again, it's ok. Not amazing, not $hit.

P.S. I saw yesterday that John Boston have a lager for $11 / 6 pack (Dan's/ BWS) thats probably a bit better.

          • @tunzafun001: I get they're both basic but Broken Shackles actually has a nice light subtlety to it, Trost just has a very muted flavour.

Say what you will about Great Northern at least it tastes like something lol

@tunzafun001: John Boston (and all pinnacle drinks) are just commoditised alcohol. It's not a brand, or anyone you're supporting that actually cares about making the drink. It's just woolies buying in bulk from whoever is happy to sell to them at the cheapest price. It's not bad it's just kinda…soulless (I wanted a less dramatic adjective but couldn't think of one haha).

            • @incipient: John Boston is just another home brand private label by Woolworths/endeavour, like Tun and colossal and Zytho. I don’t care as long as it’s drinkable. I like the colossal beers

Norway is joining NATO. I think that TROST is their secret weapon :)

  • Trost means in German a feeling of freedom from worry or disappointment.

I think that Norway, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia & Lithuania are united against the Kremlin threat now.

    • Same in Norwegian - "comfort", "console". Otherwise, it's the name of a bird.

I often have a few cans in the fridge just for the jokes, but not my favourite beer. Cheaper from BWS on one of their 25% cashback days.

      I'm not associated.

  • Had this exact beer before for about $10/6pk. Still think it was overpriced lol, lacked any flavour. Tastes like if club soda was a beer.

If you're an ale/stoit/etc drinker, pretty much all larger will fit into this description.

      • Yep. Not a lager fan here, too bland.

  • A completely inoffensive beer… nothing to rave about, but if you want some cheapies on hand and theres nothing else at this price point at dans its not terrible. Very benign lager, but sometimes thats just what you want.
