This is for XLR microphones only. If you have a USB microphone, save your money - there's nothing for you to look here.
If you have a dynamic XLR microphone which is a bit quiet (e.g. MV7, SM7B, RE20 etc.) this is your chance to buy this inline preamp (aka microphone booster) for the cheapest ever price. (I personally bought one when it was around $150-ish. TBH I don't like the way the mic sounds with the fethead, so I wouldn't mind selling mine. But you can buy new for much less than what I paid for mine)
Amazon page says it provides 18db of gain or amplification. I haven't measured the actual gain on mine, but it does help. Although it does change the character of the voice as well. Your mileage may vary. If you need it, you probably know it. Requires phantom power, but again you probably know that as well. For best results, stick it at the back of the microphone.
Go grab a bargain if you bought a dynamic microphone that is too quiet. This might help.

P.S: What happened to the price of RE20? How come it's $900+ at the moment?
It seemed like yesterday when the CT1 was selling for $50.
