Ah yeah for elderly waterproof isnt that good
More like I have too many waterproof boots and I need to get something different to justify buying more boots
@iamthecaptainnow: Jeez, you're Mr positivity arnt you. Just answer his question or be quiet.
@iamthecaptainnow: You have such adorable personality, we are lucky you are staying off boring tracks.
@iamthecaptainnow: GTX is trash for going through rivers, since they're waterproof they also trap water in, you're doing it wrong. Otherwise of course you're doing boring rivers that don't go over the shoe height and you're having to wave and say hi to 300 cunce along the way.
There's also nothing wrong with hiking around other people, we should be encouraging this great form of exercise.
Great price, but I find these a bit narrower than my other Salomon boots/shoes. You may need to go up a size to get some width?
correct they are narrow, I will need to return the one got from other deal.
NARROWER than other Salomon?!!?!? I don't see how that is bloody possible. Their specific "Wide" models are narrower than every other shoes normal sizes.
Shoe (and clothing) sizes just leave me baffled. FFS just size them like this - Shoe size to fit a foot that is X cm long by Y cm wide at widest part of foot = size. Eg I am a 24x11, my wife is a 20x9. Simples.
I have narrow feet and a pointy toe and had to go up two sizes just for length. Wearing these shoes size US 12 now and they are just a few mm too smal and have ordered US 13 just now. US12 is showing as Euro 46.5 and am normally Euro 45, US 13 is showing as euro 48 which is huge.
I gave up on Salomon for this reason, their sizing is nuts, even ordering their "wide" model shoes I had to go 2x sizes up to fit, and then I look like I just need the white face paint, fuzzy hair and red nose.
I just don't understand why all of their shoes are just so crazy narrow. People with narrow feet can wear shoes that are slightly wider than they need, but anyone with wide feet absolutely cannot wear super narrow shoes. You look at the amazon reviews and every second review of their shoes is of people having to return shoes that are too small for their size.
Got mine delivered today from the earlier deal. Having no prior experience with this brand, I ordered my usual size. I assumed it would be a perfect fit since Salomon's US/UK/EU sizing chart matches Adidas exactly. Lengthwise, the Salomon's are fine. But in terms of width, it seems these are made for petite ballerina feet. And I'm not one that's ever needed to buy extra width shoes. Half a size up might've been better, but a full size up probably would've created too much of a gap in front of my toes. Giving them away now.
On a separate note, quality seems good (minus the laces and insole) and the cyberpunk look is nice — but there's no way these are worth $250 full retail.
I wore these the other day for a 10-hour walk (urban) and found them to a bit unsatisfactory, even with replacement orthopaedic innersoles. They just pinched a bit too much.
Great price on the Lyngen if you need a size 10.5 (they are on clearance) - $56

Any good deals on non-waterproof boots? 90% of the time I hike it’s not rainy or wet so I’m looking for an extra pair of non-waterproof and properly breathable boots but can’t find any decent one
