  • Would this actually work?

    • +1

Yes, I’ve signed up to their previous S23 and Pixel 7 Pro launch deals

      • Sweet would they unlock the phone from optus too?

        • The phone is already unlocked as it comes from HN

      • and you got s23 termination fee waived….

    • +1

I bought two S22s this way. Good deal

      • +1

Would it affect your credit score? Thanks

        • +3

Did not show up on Equifax at all. Note: I only have the Equifax subscription because Optus already leaked my data and tried to make up for it. I went back again figuring it can't be stolen twice. Can it? :)

          • +5

@TooSerious2: It showed up on my Equifax dropped my score a tad. You can see your Equifax and Experian scores for free if you sign up to Wisr and you can get your Illion score from them for free. Two accounts get you access to the 3 scores from Australia's credit reporting firms for free no need for any "charity" from Optus to check your scores FYI

            • @denserham: Just checked and Optus shows up on my Illion score as well, dropped it down by around 50 points but that was 2 phones.

    • I did two Pro 7 at launch and it worked.

  • What's the benefit of cancelling immediately? Why not just use the plan if you are paying for it anyways? Unless you really don't like Optus I guess.

    • +1

Because you only pay half the remaining cost to cancel. Since half is $34.5 a month, you can get phone plans much cheaper than this and spend less overall for the 24 months

      • +2

Ah I missed that you only pay half. Good deal then. Thanks for explaining.

        • Sure , if you've got the money to pay it out !

    • You cancel and end up paying out half the plan so end up paying just for the phone if you kept the plan it would cost another $828. It is the cheapest outright price for a pixel 7 pro. then you get a yearly sim for around $150 you are $528 ahead. or buy boost sim cards every month on cashrewards and make a profit to help offset the price of the phone.

They shouldn't be able to double charge you for the first month, if it is already included in the $69 x 24 calculation it cannot be in the prorated one.

    • +1

Agreed. I had a dispute with them through customer service for the s23 ultra deal a few months ago. Just complain. They removed the 69.

  • +1

They have the same deal with the Samsung s23 128gb

    • +1

HI, Any other phones eg Oppo N2 Flip?

    • Any chances HN could do the same deal for 256GB version?

      • +1

It’s across all models, as you’re getting the device discount of a base Samsung S23 128GB variant

        • Thanks mate.
Let me if these steps are right.
          1) Go to a HN store
          2) Ask for S23 256GB
          3) Ask for Optus $69/M Plan for 24M (New/Port-in)
          4) Pay 69$
          5) For Cancellation : Are HN staff ok, if I cancel it on-the-spot or should I wait a day or 2?

          Any response much appreciated.

          • +4

            @Zviar: Slightly off:

            1) Go to a HN store
            2) Ask for S23 256GB
            3) Ask for Optus $69/M Plan for 24M (New/Port-in)
            4) Pay $100 (128GB costs $1349, 256GB $1449)
            5) For Cancellation: Call or live chat to Optus. HN only provides the device, the contract is with Optus

  • Do you have to do this in store?

  • +2

    Why is it (($69 x 24)/2) + $69?

Why divided by 2 and why +69?

    • +3

Divide by two as per terms of the contract that you must pay out 50%
+69 because they charge you for the first month.

By the way, due to the latter, it should be '23' and not '24' months.

      • Thank you!

    • +1

I got them to remove the 69 when I complained as the fee already accounts for 24 months

  • So which is the pick of the two phones…?

  • +1

Hacktus ! No way. Even if they were giving it for fully free I still would not take their $h!t services

  • Can you get this if you're already with floptus?

    • Yup, just sign up as a new number and account

      • From my experience, They would not allow this.
When they create an Optus account, it validates against Name and DOB, so if it matches existing account - they add it as a service under the original account itself.

  • How does this work, I can only basket handset, nothing showing about this deal?

  • +1

I signed up for Pixel 7 Pro on its launching time. Paid $150 for 256gb variant. Took a new number and cancelled the plan very next day through the online chat. Paid $793.50. Cancellation process was smooth and easy.

  • Can I do it online or have to visit the store. I can't find the web link, could anyone direct me plz?

    • +1

      Store !

      • +1

It's only in-store to originally purchase it right? If you choose to cancel straight away, the cancelling part is done via online chat?

        • Yup, via Optus live chat or you can give them a call if it’s easier

  • has anyone tried this latest deal with the 256GB Pixel 7 Pro?

  • +1

    Thanks!

  • Does the Early Termination Charge need to be paid in one lump sum or does Optus break it into 'three monthly instalment' amounts - like when you upgrade contracts early with a few months' payments remaining on your old handset?

    • Lump-sum, unless you are taking out another plan to replace it.

  • Looks like you get a $100 voucher when you buy S23. Does anyone know if you are eligible for this?

  • What's the invoice looks like.
Does it shows $0 for the phone, hence we cannot claim tax deduction for it?

    • +1

I bought s23+ under previous similar deal and my invoice shows 300 which was gap I paid, so yes I am sure for s23 it will show 0

      • So around $1100 for S23+ if you cancel straight away. Really good price without hassle of trade-ins.

  • Is there any downsides to doing this such as, credit score taking a hit or hidden fees etc?

    • There will be credit check for this

  • I recently arrived in AU. Does it worth to be on this Optus plan? Does it have international call/text allowance?

  • What about S23 ultra 512gb

  • My wife made a mistake an ported the plan to her existing. Anyway to avail the benefits of cancelling the plan while keeping the number? Basically, can we port the optus number to any prepaid plan and not pay anything extra?

  • Does this work for the Ultra version?

    • Based on the comments above, the difference between ultra and the s23 128gb should be paid at the time of purchase.

  • The emailed advert says ends 20th March 2023. Does that mean it ends tomorrow end of business or midnight tonight?

  • Got my Pixel 7 Pro around release time this way, though I believe that also had a $150 Harvey Norman gift card on top of it. Spectacular deal as supported by the phone being posted here as a bargain when the price is sometimes $500 more.

  • +1

Went into HN today and they're still offering until COB

    • +1

so annoyed annoyed that I just saw this and all stores are closed :(

  • +1

Didn't realise this expired yesterday. Was going to go in today. Waiting for the next deal now.

  • S23 still available for 1 more week. Is this as good as the 7 pro?

    • +1

Where did you see this? live chat said no

      • +1

Can confirm s23 still available. Was just in HN QV and signed up, reps advised offer is on until 29th March. Also shelled out $100 to upgrade to 256gb variant as I've read that ufs 4.0 storage is faster and more power efficient than ufs 3.1 found in the 128gb variant.

        • Did they give you invoice showing full price with GST for the phone? just wonder if i could claim TRS next week

        • yeah, thats who I spoke to, Gonna get one tomorrow. Good tip on the 256gb. Ta.
Wanted the pixel for a change, but s23 seems a fair bit better.

          • @Wm: I also managed to get them to throw in about $70 worth of accessories. Got a 25w brick and glass screen protector free. Good luck.

        • How much would it be to get the s23 ultra 256gb by doing this?

          • @Shanetrain: I saw they are offering the ultra on the same 24m $69 plan with $599 upfront

            • @Doesnotcompute: Oh cool! How much would it end up being outright after i cancel?

              • @Shanetrain: Critical information summary shows the maximum plan cancellation fee for the 24m $69 plan as $828. So I think the fee equates to 50% of the remaining plan cost as stated in comments above, and declines the further you are into the contract I think. Couldn't spot any fee for handset, so hoping I havnt missed anything and don't get stung when I cancel tomorrow hah

                • @Doesnotcompute: Let me know how you go! Im more worried it would affect my credit score in some way.

                  • @Shanetrain: Just cancelled via chat this morning (had to endure a 45min retention attempt). Termination fee I was quoted was $793.50 which will appear on my next bill, assume alongside my first pro rata monthly charge

                    • @Doesnotcompute: I expected them to fight you to stay! So how much would the s23 ultra 256gb come out to after termination fee and monthly charge? Couldn't be assed doing the math haha.
Are you worried about losing any credit score or?

                    • @Doesnotcompute: Do you think the early termination fee of $793.50 is tax deductible for small business or probably not?

                      • @Handymancan: No idea sorry. Are service provider charges for businesses not always deductable? ETC is stated on the optus bill under "Other charges and credits", hope this helps

        • THANK YOU. I'm so glad I checked the comments cause I gave up. Going in today to get one.

  • Todays the last day for the s23 deal, can confirm that We got an s23 on the $69 plan and cancelled the next day for 50% of plan fee. Saved $600 off a new S23 great deal. Guy in store tried to tell us that we needed to wait 6 months before cancelling but i believe this has something to do with Commission for them
