Sharing QFF Account

I'm looking to sell my QFF points and I have a prospective buyer. The buyer wants access to my QFF account to use the points after payment. Are there any potential risks when sharing your account with someone?

    Assume you haven't read this?

They want access to your account after payment so they can use your points directly (avoids a transfer) - this might lower the risk a little but certainly not foolproof.

There is probably some sensitive data under your profile so I would at least clean all that up unless you don't care.

    You've been warned.

    • Yeh, I understood that they were avoiding the transfer risk.

Just wanted to double check that there were no additional risks with allowing someone access to my account

      • someone mentioned 2FA which might be a nuisance to work through but not insurmountable.

Other than that - I don't think so - the most valuable is the points itself which I assume you are only giving once payment is received. In this day and age, I don't know how the buying party gets comfort that you won't just keep the funds.

Lol why do they need access to your account when you can transfer the points to their account?

mitigates the risk associated with transferring points and using the "this is a family member" thing.

      • And what's stopping the buyer from taking all of the points e.g. if the account has 250K points and the transaction was for 100K, what's gonna stop the buyer from taking all 250K points?

        • Assume OP is selling all of their points or whatever is left in their account to the buyer.

        • Absolutely nothing is stopping them from doing that, you're right.

This method only works if you either (a) trust them OR (b) are selling all your points.

          protip: never trust random people

  • Mitigates risk of large transfers being flagged.
Buyer still runs the risk of unusual activity being paused/cancelled.
Most of your personal info requires 2fa to view/edit.
Have done it a few times with no issues, but not with my main account.
Could always setup a throwaway account under a family members name and drop the points there.

    • actually not bad advice - using a ghost family account and selling that instead.

Easy and foolproof way of avoiding getting flagged. Marry them, them divorce after the points have been used.

Or don't divorce, and remain happy life partners. Win win.

      You're welcome!

I've done this OP. Sold several hundred thousand QFF points and they wanted to do this.

Initially I was wary but it makes sense, and any sensitive information about you is behind 2FA anyway so all they can access is your name and use the points.

If you do do this, I would suggest changing your account pin after they have done the transaction so they can't redeem any future points you have.

Well concerning gift cards, I guess the same as QFF points as both have value, first thing ill eventually ask is for their Australian mobile number which cant be forged as tied to either an Australian license or medicare card, straight away scammers wont reposond with a mobile number usually cause there from overseas and dont have one, certainly any buyers/sellers coming to my place in person I will ask for a mobile number to sms my address (I try not to post my address details over online messenger), well not my place and stops thieves as on " CH9 Current Affairs" people selling fancy jet skies left in their garage ready to be robbed, serious buyers/sellers will usually share their mobile number

Your situation certainly ask for the money upfront before sharing any account and password details, your the seller so its your terms dare i mention how many scammers want the pin upfront for my gift cards, (have a feeling older generation might fall for giving up their pin on their gift cards), actually have kept my ads up for my fb marketplace gift cards as I have fun messsing around with the scammers, gather proof in conversation then report them to facebook, funny havent had a scammer for weeks now, must off cleaned them out off fb marketplace lolz

    And good luck OP

    • which cant be forged as tied to either an Australian license or medicare card

That's why scammers tend to use someone elses ID to setup a sim card…

      • Im talking about covering ones arse with pickup, everything else relating too an ID like drivers license surely think twice like you said can be somebodies elses Australian ID, stolen identity

  • Wondering what payment method are they asking for too use? and have they given you any of there personal details well at least were they are from like suburb etc, there are tricks buyers use to reverse payments after the fact, one is PayPal and credit cards i can think of, also sharing your bank account bsb and account number they can be used to signup to subscriptions why PayID was invented

Edit: may I ask how many QFF points you have to sell to this buyer and what offer your getting from this buyer?

  • I’ve handed over the keys to my account before and it went smoothly. I then took it back after the points were consumed. Just make sure you’re engaging a reputable buyer - there are a few big fish on the classifieds whom are reliable (do your research). If you go with those guys, you’ll be fine.

  • I gave access to a buyer and the account was still locked due to tickets being bought under a different name. I managed to restore access but you are not immune doing it this way.

      How did you restore access?

  • I'd use a screen-sharing app instead; i.e. they pay, then you and they set up a session together. You log in, ensure credentials aren't saved, they do their transaction while you watch (and can abort it if need be), and they do their bit, and then you sign out and end the call. Both parties get what they want without giving passwords away or having them do things without your observation.

    • More often it's buyers chasing obscure first class award seats… Could be quite a long session.
