    Void Bastards

Towards the end kind of grindy but for the first 15 hours or so I thought it was pretty good! Played on switch though.

I was a big fan and it inspired me to go back and try Heat Signature which is also a pretty fun ship raiding game

    • Given it’s all randomized, your first 15 hours would be very different to anybody else’s.

      • Nah you work towards building specific items using items you loot from derelict spaceships

So you end up having to grind for specific items whereas the first fifteen hours or so that doesn't seem so apparent

Was very apparent to me how random it all was. After 3 runs of extremely varied lengths I’d had enough. Like a lot of roguelikes I could see what kind of a game it could have been.

    • i enjoyed it. i didn't really feel the grind at all haha

      • honestly i am tempted to go back, i imagine there would have been a heap of QoL improvements since I last played circa 2020

        • Hopefully they fixed the screen tearing and dropped frames

Bit of a sad selection there

Only trumped by this comment. There's some decent games there for $14 a piece.

buy them when you get $10 jb perks birthday voucher

    • Oh what I didn’t get a birthday voucher wtf 🥲🥲🥲

      • +1

i think the early perk members never got prompted to enter their birthday.
i realised this and entered it as March and got told I have for next year now.

Thanks op. Updated for both my accounts with one for April so hopefully get one next month. 👍

Bugsnax for $14 gives you a Bunger cheaper than your average burger

  • Tribes of Midguard can be pretty fun, though if you're a PS+ member, check your collection as it was free a month or so ago.

  • The best part about Void Bastards was running away from strong enemies and quickly trying to lock the door before they followed you

  • The best part about Yooka Laylee was how each stage had an alternative version

Shame the levels were such slogs though!

    • Con: The levels are long and boring.

Pro: There's twice as many of them.

      Hmm…

      • Oh I just mean in a very general design sense, like "this is an interesting mechanic"

        • +1

I was just poking fun, it does sound like a cool mechanic.

Bugsnax and Dodgeball Academia are both great.

Wargroove is an amazing game if you like the Advance Wars / Fire Emblem series.
