SI Cocktail Arcade Machine Question - Games Not Booting

Hey guys,

About 10 years ago I purchased this cocktail tabletop arcade machine built with 1,940 classic arcade games.

The machine has been used occasionally and overall no dramas, however now when I select a game from the menu, the system just reboots itself.

The online business (Goods n Gadgets) that I bought it from has since cosed down, so I don't know who to contact?

Judging by my query, you can tell i'm not too savvy with all this mame stuff so would not know where to start or what the issue is.

Any guidance will be much appreciated. FYI I'm located eastern suburbs, Melbourne.

You will probably be better off engaging with a MAME enthusiast community and providing lots for info on what you're running. Maybe try dedicated forums like https://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?Cat=.

That's not a lot to go on since the issue will be dependent on the particular hardware and software you have. However, some of those set ups don't work on all games despite having the games listed. Is this happening on all games? If you are picking a new(ish) game that is beyond the capabilities of the hardware it's not unexpected it would crash. Good examples would be 3D fighting games. Make sure you are trying a game you know have worked in the past since if it's doing this on Pacman (for example) you've definitely got a problem versus if you are trying with a more modern game it might be it just doesn't work with that one.

In terms of help, agree with @Hybroid that you probably would get better help outside Ozbargain. I'd suggest a facebook group (try searching for "arcade", "mame", etc.) . Probably an idea to check that the group you find is not exclusively for real hardware as opposed to emulation as there is some snobbery in this hobby! Pictures will help too - both of the unit itself as well as of the screens. There's probably some screen that would highlight what sort of hardware and software you have that would allow for more detailed troubleshooting. It sounds like it's possibly some sort of Pandora's Box or clone you've got which I suspect someone who's used one would be able to provide more direct assistance - unfortunately I've not really used them.

    Try https://www.aussiearcade.com/
Great forum and help for arcades, pinballs, all computers, etc

  • I'd have a look at it, but I'm in NSW.

Judging by the age, hardware is probably based on Windows or Linux (Raspberry Pis were capable of running Mame
but very poorly). Quite often there are a lot of Front Ends, that they companies use, to make it look more user friendly.
Did it come with a Recovery Disc or Recovery USB?
As above checkout Aussie Arcade. The owner might be on there, or someone who knows them?
