Nestlé Milo 1kg $14.50 and Get a Bonus Milo Travel Mug 250ml for Free (RRP $15) @ Coles

561

Spotted at Epping (NSW) Coles by my son - the upcoming ozbargainer. So thought of posting this in keeping the spirit of ozbargain for generations to come 😂

Couldn’t find it in the catalog or online but here are the links to the products:
Travel Mug free with 1Kg Milo

Unsure if nationwide or store specific - but shouldn’t be store specific as it was kept in a temp shelf at the front of the isle with all marketing material.

Hope this helps some of us!

Happy ozbargaining now and for years to come !!

250mL? Is this a travel mug for ants?

    • +9

I don't know man, you could fit quite a few ants into 250 mL…

    • +7

      Sick em rex

    • I just checked - looks like a fairly decent sized mug - should fit a small or even regular sized coffee from most places. Might not be fit the large oneself though.
Also, it’s got a good lid with a stopper to prevent spills - not sure what its called

      • A spill proof lid ?

  • -8

43.6g sugar in 100g… very healthy

    • +13

To be fair, you're not meant to eat it straight.

      • +14

That’s not what my childhood said. Those milo sachets they gave during the cricket intro events at school were snacks to eat straight out the pack.

          • +12

@U30004: Calling stuff at supermarkets "most so called food" very much detracts from any other points you make.

There is plenty of perfectly good, nutritious, tasty food at a supermarket. There is plenty of junk too, but hardly "most".

Sweets/treats do serve a purpose, however I will grant you the marketing for Milo is essentially lies.

@incipient: Not my research: Nearly 65 per cent of Australian adults and 25 per cent of children are overweight or obese, and less than 7 per cent consume a healthy diet.

        • +1

Haha you stole my thoughts and what I was about to say 😂

      • As a kid I use to eat it straight from the tin.

      • "To be fair, you're not meant to eat it straight."

Are you referring to the Rex ad?

        • I was a kid, I was stupid

    • Raisins have 59g of sugar per 100g. What's your point?

      • Thats not added sugar

        • Uh-huh.

I'm not going to bother explaining the breakdowns of sugars.

But I will point out that the 46g you are stating is not added sugar either. About 45% of the sugar in Milo is malted barley. So technically "natural" sugar.

How do you claim the mug?

    • +2

They're on the top shelf of the display. You just take one. It rings up at $15 but scanning a 1kg milo adds a discount for the mug.

      • +4

You just take the two items together to the register and it automatically discounts the mug.

    • -1

      find it in a lake

  • +11

That's not cheap for 1kg of Milo. So consider you're paying extra for a potentially useless 'mug' (at 250 Mls not a mug).

    • +1

Agree - not the cheapest price per kg for Milo, but the mug makes the deal sweet

      • +14

It's probably the sugar that makes it sweet 🤔

      • yes mugs are a rare and valuable commodity

      • For 250ml..it's literally 2 mouthfuls. Doesn't make it better having Milo on it. Still made in china for 10 cents

        • Who cares if it cost 10c as long as they sell on Ebay for $20 makes it a bargain lol .

    • +1

Assuming you were willing to pay $15 for the travel mug anyway, it's like Nestle are paying you 50 cents for 1kg of Milo.

      • +4

That would have been a good way to word the deal - buy travel mug for $15 and nestle pays you $0.50 to buy 1Kg Milo in the same transaction. 😃

  • +1

Picked one up last week. Uncomplicated swing top lid which is so much easier to clean than my needlessly complex frank green one.

Good for a double espresso that stays warm the whole drive to work

  • +4

That’s pretty expensive for 1kg of sugar

    • +7

Haven't you seen the ads? It's a magical powder that will turn your kids into pro athletes.

      • Lol indeed

        • +3

I had a housemate once who would pour half a big box of Nutri Grain into a mixing bowl and then pour a litre of milk over it. He was not an iron man.

    • …it probably works out as 1.5kg of sugar…

  • +4

You'd be a mug not to get this deal

  • +1

If you are just after the mug
Seems the ikea one looks good for $8
    https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/envaeldig-insulated-travel-mug-…

  • I'm disappointed. I checked DoorDash Coles and not on it :(

  • Return the milo, keep the mug

  • +3

not available at my local coles, saved $14.50 lol

  • +1

"Other than sugar, there is an ingredient in Milo called Maltodextrin. It is an ingredient that causes your blood sugar level to spike because of its high glycemic index. It is a white powder made from corn, rice, potato starch, or wheat. that is relatively tasteless and dissolves in water."

    Mmmm

  • +1

Bought 3 I now have a bathtub filled with Milo. Got 3 scoops too

  • I bought one, thanks for the tip!
It seems decent enough quality, will use for travel coffee.

  • too bad nestle is a POS company full of unethical practices world wide

  • Coincidentally this promotion seems to have started at the same time the price of the 1kg Milo tin jumped from $11.50 to $14.50. Just a sneaky to way to try and hide the 25% price increase.

  • $13 today milo
