Great phone if you are OK with 6gb ram

    • +5

      Is 6Gb ram bad?

      • +1

No unless you game on your phone. I have this phone since it's been out and no issues from my end.. I'm a mid to heavy user so battery is the only thing that could be better in my case.

How old is this? There won't be any Android updates would there?

    • +1

Wikipedia says released November 5, 2020 with support up to at least November 2023. It does have a headphone jack which is nice unlike the new ones.

      • I'm always a bit fuzzy on what Pixel 'support' is (Android versions or security updates?) Wondering if it will get Android 14.

    • +2

Been using this since release. Pretty good phone and if your usage is basic like me (calls, videos, emails, whatsapp etc.) Then its still going fine. I dont feel a need to change due to being extremely slow or something. Battery is still at 30% at the end of the day so not bad.

  • Will this give you unli storage in Google cloud?

    • +2

      Yes. At a lower quality.

    • +3

      Pixel 3a-5
You can choose to back up your photos and videos either in Storage saver, previously named High quality, or in Original quality. Photos and videos backed up in Storage saver from Pixel 3a-5 are unlimited and at no charge. Photos and videos backed up in Original quality count

      • Would that unlimted storage service end when support for the phone ends in November?

  • Op forgot to tick associated?

    • Not associated, just found it as a pretty good deal.

I have been using my P4A for 3 months now. Very happy.
I am not a huge user of graphics, so that is not an issue. But it's very solid for everything else, happy with the mid-size and the camera is excellent, people have commented on how clear the pics are.
Last week I got a firmware update, including the Magic Eraser.
About to head OS, looking forward to installing a local eSim.

Went overseas with a Pixel 4a 5G and a Poco F3 5G… discovered the airport I was going to didn't have physical sim cards easily locatable after about 30 minutes, suddenly remembered eSIMs were a thing. Voila, downloaded an eSIM onto the Pixel and could leave the airport with internet :) eSIM is incredibly handy for international travel, especially if you buy, download and install the eSIM (but don't actually activate it) while still back home; when you get to your destination you basically just "turn it on" and bam, internet.

Does this have an OLED screen?

  • anyone have experience with esims internationally?

    • Yes, all set up easily via either web link or qr code.

      • better to set it up a day or two before arrival i assume?

        • I just set mine up there but might be safer in case you need a verification code etc?

What do we know about the seller
From what I can find out, greengadgetsaustralia usually sells used - refurbished models that from original sources that may not be Australia?

How would you know if you device was brand new and not refurb. Brand new would exclude something that's been opened, or rerturned as change of mind?

And do we know if it's an authorised vendor, or a grey import?

It says 30-day satisfaction guarantee (not specificaly for brand new items though), but 'Brand New' items are covered by Manufacturer Warranty. Is there anything to be wary of there?

    • +3

I bought a brand new phone from them (Pixel 6). If it is advertised as brand new, it is brand new.

They are also known as Alegre, who run refurb programs alone or for other telcos or manufacturers (e.g. Optus).

They are legit business and follow Aus consumer laws.

        Thanks for the reply

    • It says brand new and full manufacturer warranty so assuming they are brand new and sealed in box. Interesting also says includes a starter pack which shows a 3rd party plug and cable but guessing this is just a default photo they use for refurbed listings.

They have a number of other "brand new" listings too.

        Thanks for the reply.
Just deciding now if it's still a worthwhile phone - there's some rather ordinary reviews around including not very good battery life, dim screen, and fairly slow charging. I think they would all be downgrades on my current Moto phone, though I would covet the camera (even though it also gets quite a few reviews of being disappointing). Also two and a half years old. Hmm.

        • Looks like already out of stock, but I would recommend Pixel 6A for not much more. This phone will take a great photo but that's all and will feel extremely sluggish compared to something like a Pixel 6A.

          • @aveeno bb: Any links for the 6a? Usually around 600?

            • +1

@mac2403: Had been around 499 multiple times for a local stock.

          • @aveeno bb: Yes,you're right, out of stock now. Well that solves that dilema.
Thanks for the recommendation, appreciate it.

Bought 2x iPhones from them and wasn't happy that they weren't transparent on the ebay listing.

The refurb iPhones, supposedly in Excellent condition, they had deep scratches around the lenses. phones were not AUST MODEL and both iPhones the battery health was 81% and 84%.

It is sneaky of eBay sellers calling used phones as refurbished! If you buy a refurb iPhone from Apple they would have given you a new genuine charger/cable and new battery.

      • If you are picky about the conditions it's best to buy from FB marketplace or private eBay listing where they post actual photos. Advantage of buying from refurb dealers such as Green Gadgets is that you at least get a seller warranty from them.

  • Came brand new sealed, retail box.
