Sorry son, this is a shitty brand that is always discounted by huge amounts to attract customers.. Nothing to see here? Edit: Ditto Fendi and Cerruti.. looking at it all Amazon watches arn't worth a cracker except for Casio, which are already cheap

    • So…. presumably you can make your neg useful and point people to where they can buy these watches cheaper?
Whether you believe it is a crappy brand or not is somewhat immaterial….

Well, a lot of Prada things etc. are bad quality and yet Australians buy them like crazy. It is the brand and image that counts and for that both Cerruti and Fendi are good. Just research the European and US-American luxury goods market a bit. Also, this is about whether it is a deal and a reduction of 84% is not bad in anybody's books. How much are those watches here? $500 upwards (in the Brizzie shops)! So if you are right about the quality you should shoot the Aussie retailers trying to sell you expensive junk, right? Also, check up on your quality judgment - Invicta, Skagen etc. that are available are excellent watches and brands. So are Ebel, Junghans, Seiko. Judging from your comment about Casio you are more in the market for watches costing $100 or less which is fine. Just don't know everything you do not know.

      • Wow, all over the place there. Anywho Casio are an honest brand - none of these other watches should be priced over a casio as they are essentially the same.

They pose as european brands but don't even have mechanical movements and everything is done in china from design to production, their only value is based purely on marketing and impressive sounding names backed up by posh plating that will flake off in weeks of using the watch daily.

My watches (Tag, Bell and Ross (I regret buying), Modaine, and casio) are nothing too special, but at least they are the real deal ;)

        • Whilst I agree with thackleberry on the comments regarding the intrinsic value of "luxury" watches (they pretty much all have the same ETA battery quartz movement - although many higher brands such as tag don't use in-house mechanical movements). Invicta isn't really a luxury brand per say, and they do seem to have quite a lot of insane sales, but that said, this is a 'decent' price for these watches. However, as mentioned many times in posts above and below, these are designer watches - in comparison to proper luxury watches such as AP,PP,VC etc. You would get better value out of a casio g-shock than the watches listed in OP.

Never heard of the brand, watches are pretty hideous though.

  • LOL fail referral link in the post

    • Maybe you should learn how to use the net and only then neg? Copy the long link, put it in your browser and voila. There is no other way to do due to this website's restrictions.
Now fixed it for you so you do not have to work to much. ;-)

    • There is no referral link in the post & it would be great if you revoke your vote if it's solely based on perceiving having a referral link.

      For Amazon, it's either:

      • Having "tag" in the query string
      • Path starts with /exec/obidos/ASIN/...

We'll be pushing out an update (hopefully this week) that will try to detect affiliate links in the main post, and hopefully that will make disclosing them easier.

  • They are freakin ugly

    • There are almost 1000 entries - these are just examples. Hence the link to the sale.

    these are NOT luxury watches

    • Sorry mate but yes, these are luxury brands. Whether you like them, or like their quality or whatever but they still are. Try to get a Junghans, or Fendi, or Invicta, or any of the brands at your local BigW or Woolworths or Kmart. you will find them in the high end priced shops in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane though.
Also, check who some of those companies belong do - luxury brand holdings like LV etc.

And yes I agree - some of them are ugly but luxury and money was and is never a guarantee for taste.

      • If you measure luxury by whether something sells at BigW, you need to get out more.
e.g. Invicta was NEVER a luxry brand - they were/are a mid-tier watch maker that makes OK looking watches but that's about it.

        • Well, standard/staple as compared to luxury my comparison and example holds.
So, if they sell Invicta only at the high-end stores in a city what would that mean? They are junk? Standard?
In any case, whether they are luxury watches or not - this is how they are categorised by Amazon and this is what this deal is about. The price reduction are great - there is no way around that. Whether you personally like the watches or not is irrelevant - that does not make this bargain go away.

        Luxury - No
        Designer - Yes

  • If you're considering the "Fendi wrist watch for men HIGH SPEED Chrono" for $628 you should probably just save up a bit more and buy yourself a decent second-hand Omega/Tag etc.

Invicta arent luxury watches. Junghans I quite like because of their Max Bill. It looks like all of these watches have Quartz movements and, regardless of branding are probably made in china anyway. I know Invicta and others claim Swiss Heritage and possibly claim swiss assembly of some of their watches but in reality most of the automatics have a seagull movement (chinese).

If you are after a quality watch at a good price I often look at the pages:

    www.onedaywatch.com

    www.watchdoddy.com

I prefer Automatic watches and for a good quality cheaper luxury watch I would recommend Hamilton, Mido and Edox (Swiss with ETA movements) or even cheaper I would recommend a Seiko automatic. I recently bought a Seiko Neo Monster with a 21 jewel auto movement for $80 from Ashford.com and I bought an Edox C1 with an ETA Auto movement from www.dailybling.com for about $300. The Edox is a swiss made auto with a genuine ETA movement inside.

For discount luxury watches I often look at the websites

    www.yourwatchconnection.com

    and www.upscaletime.com

latter two and ashford are Grey market (genuine watches but without manufacturers warranty).

    • It all depends on how you define luxury. Most of you will have more than one TV - that is luxury for me (read: unnecessary!) but probably not for you.
Essentially, you can get a watch that shows time and works for 5 years or so for less than $20. So, a watch costing $250 or more RRP is luxury for me. So, yes Invicta watches might not be Breitling or Rolex but they are still luxury (read: you pay for brand and image, not the essential function). And leaving judgment about quality aside, the price reduction makes this a deal, whether you like the brands or not and whether you think they are luxury or not.

P.S.: My partner's uncle is a Swiss watchmaker - maybe you should talk to him what watches are made in Switzerland and which ones are considered good quality - he never mentioned the ones you did!

      • I mentioned the ones that I did because some of those brands were included in the original Amazon page in the original post. They also sell at the cheaper end of the watch spectrum, in line with the pricing of the original post. With something liek a Hamilton or a Mido, for the price of a Quartz fashion watch or an Invicta, you can get a genuine swiss watch (both part of the Swatch group) with an ETA movement.

If you want me to quote premium watch brands I can fill a page with Panerai, JLC, A Lange and Sonhne, Glasshutte Original, Vacheron Constantin etc etc Basically most of the Manufacture' that still make their own original movements. Personally I like Omega (wearing one now) although many consider them to also be a fashion brand.

  • Is this free shipping to Oz?

    • No, but the shipping is already included in the price.

  • +4

I would include brands like Vacheron Constantine, JLC, A Lange and Sohne, maybe even some of the Rolexes as luxury watches. Invicta is a mass produced chinese watch passed off with a vague swiss connection. There are many other brands that do the same and they are almost always on sale with crazy markdowns. Basically the RRP for Invicta watches is unbelievable to begin with as they are almost always on 60%+ markdown. Check out the watch collector boards like watchuseek for other opinions. Other similar chinese watch brands include Rotary, Akriboss, Croton etc.

I think you need to distinguish between luxury brands and luxury watches. There are high quality watches sold at a premium based on the workmanship and quality of movement and there are cheap mass produced watches with high prices based upon marketing and brand name. Depending upon who you ask the line sits in a different spot. I dont think you would however find many watch collectors that boast about their collection of Invictas.

Here is one of the many US based deal of the day Invicta 'Bargains'
    http://www.worldofwatches.com/cust/dailydealinvicta.asp?rid=…

  • There is a Dolce & Gabanna watch for 73.14euro, not my style but its cheap and there are also cheap Esprit, Kenneth Cole etc so there are much cheaper watches on site that we in Australia would usually find expensive in stores like myer http://www.amazon.de/Dolce-Gabbana-Herren-Armbanduhr-Analog-…

  • also check endless.com (part of amazon) they have these watches as well. I bought an invicta for around $70 - says its all swiss including movement. I dont care what others say, and I am not a watch snob - for $70 it beats any other watch for that price.
