    Not a bad book - think it may have been better for beginners if they had the hiragana and katakana rather than just kanji versions.

    Book that was used in Japanese Foundation course and other Jap course I did which was good was Japanese for Busy people. Also 1 on 1 Skype classes are really good for anyone serious about learning the language.

        Reality check. Its the 12th most spoken language, almost all of it by Japanese people in Japan. And Japan is a country where 38% of the population is above 60, and 29.1% above 65. The overall population declines by about 1% every second year.
        Still think its worth learning?

          Yes. It's not like that's gonna trend down to 0 people remaining. The population of Japan may decline in the short to medium term, but Japan, and all its culture, from anime and video games, literature, pop culture, and even more historical items, isn't disappearing. Way worth it.

          EDIT: Oh and in a more practical sense, they're still a major trading partner with the world's 3rd largest economy. There's economic gain/employment opportunities to be had there too.
