Unbelievable value for a 280mm AIO.

    • +4

There may be a horribly good reason for this

      • +6

These perform decently but are really (profanity) loud with the stock fans which are pretty garbage, so it might be a good idea to change the fans on it which adds some cost

        • +3

The noise issue is due to a very aggressive fan curve in the BIOS. Once the fans are turned down it's fine. Gamers Nexus did a very interesting video on this.

          • @Spoodster: I have one in a 10600k system and I wouldn't call it loud

      • +5

there is. the fans are TERRIBLE

  • When I try and checkout it just goes in a loop

    • Try a different browser?

      • Lol!

      • +2

Nope their website is just crap. Was erroring by the looks of it because my billing address didn’t have a phone number field and it’s using that object for shipping which obviously requires phone number.

    • Nvm oos now

  • Ordered without thinking. Assuming this doesn't come with the amd brackets?

    • +1

Supports Intel LGA2011/2011-v3/1150/1151/1155/1156/1200/1356 and AMD AM2/AM3/FM1/FM2/AM4

Looks like it does, except not AM5

      • +4

        https://forums.evga.com/Does-EVGA-400HYCL28V1-require-AM5-br…

According to this EVGA CLC 280 AM4 bracket should work for AM5.

      • +1

All liquid coolers that support AM4 support AM5, same bracket! It's not advertised because old packaging / item description. But the same cannot be said for air coolers.

        • Ah ok, that's good to know

        • That's cool, what's the reason for air cooler AM4 brackets not working?

          • +2

@Alzori: Because they use a custom backplate which is not compatible with AM5, I think you need to buy an upgrade kit. Liquid coolers don't use a mounted backplate.

            • @Justin9mm: Thanks, that makes sense!

              • +3

@Alzori: To give more detail, the standard AM5 backplate that comes with the motherboard also re-enforces the CPU, an air cooler usually has it's own custom backplate to install but is different so if you remove the AM5 backplate, nothing is re-enforcing the CPU anymore. Liquid coolers just use mounting clips that just mount onto the front brackets on top of the CPU so no problem.

            • +1

@Justin9mm: This depends on the cooler specifically, its not all air-coolers or all AIO's
But yes you are correct, if it uses the stock AMD backplate its good to go.

              • @Lonewolf1983: Yet to see a standard AM4 AIO that's not compatible.

                • +1

@Justin9mm: probably, more in relation to the air-cooler statement
Plenty of these use the std backplate

    • It works on AM5, i have the 280 AIO on 7700x

  • Could I make this fit in an NZXT H1 V2?

    • +3

With enough modding, anything is possible.

    • +2

You'd be replacing something loud with something loud…

  • +1

Got my order in, now have upvoted. Thanks OP

  • +1

Doesn't it explicitly state that it does NOT include the 1700 bracket on the description?

  • +1

    Ordered, thanks OP!

  • +1

Ordered, thanks OP. Seems like they're having issues with Amex at the moment as I just kept getting some obscure error… but Visa worked straight away.

  • +1

    Done without hesitating
    cheers

  • +1

To good to pass. Thanks OP

    shakes fist from WA

you wanna grab a few with me? located Perth

      • Not really in the need for one, so probably better if I don't impulse buy this…
But hey if you get some and I can get one off you for ~$55, I'll happily buy one.

    • I did feel spoilt with the $5 metro delivery to Melbourne.
I drove out there once from the north where I live, probably would have been faster to fly from Perth honestly.

  • -3

    Ordered 9.

  • +1

Apparently the fans are very loud at stock.

    • +3

Extremely loud. I replaced mine with Arctic fans on the 360 CLC.

      • +2

Arctic run their fans much lower 1700 RPM, EVGA all the way up to 2250. I'd try a custom fan curve before switching out the fans see if that makes it more tolerable

        • +3

It helps but not by much. Even at their lowest speed they're loud. The arctic pressure fans are significantly better even with a lower RPM. I get even cooler temps.

  • +1

Damn that's pretty good, I bought one of these for $89 a couple of months ago.

    • how does it hold up? how are the temps?

      • sorry can't comment for my experience as I got it to to use with a NZXT Kraken G12 on a 6900xt but it didn't fit very well. But the research did before buying it, showed it performed close to a 360 AIO. Gamersnexus on youtube did a review of it and seemed like it was pretty good performers.

  • +1

It is loud, i do not recommand this.

    • Adjust fan curve and pump. Shouldn't be loud after that and unbeatable performance for $50.

    • Replacing fans with some Arctic P14s shouldn't be too hard/expensive, although it does remove the RGB factor I guess

    • It is not just the fan makes noise, the pump does it too.

      • Have you tried turning the pump down to like 70%

  • +1

wow…why didn't this come up 2 weeks ago. Just got a Vetroo v5 for my old PC

  • How is the fan noise profile at low / medium / high speed?

  • +3

I would advise against getting the 700w power supply. I bought one a few weeks ago and it had pretty bad coil whine when the PC was off. Contacted BPC and the rep said that around 50% were being returned due to issues like mine. BPC allowed me to return it for a full refund and I bought a MSI A750GF from them instead. BPC handled the issue in a great manner.

    • +1

i bought two of them and had no issues with either, may have just gotten lucky

  • +1

I bought a 2nd hand computer with this cooler, it's annoying noisy. Had it in my bedroom, could not sleep with it on. The BeQuiet air cooler I have now I can' even hear, but that won't be enough for the new amd and intels cpu's

  • +1

AfterPay already offered me $10 upfront discount on PCB, the $5 shipping took it up to the $55 minimum and resulted in $45 delivered for an EVGA AIO that fits AM4 and basically every Intel CPU.

  • +2

Many people on here complaining about the noise of these.
Question, are you complaining about fan noise (the fans ARE loud), or have you swapped them and complaining about pump noise?
At this price, if the fans are loud I think it's a perfect swap to Arctic P14's at $18 a pop on amazon.
I run a AIO on top of my case (it's a long story) with these fans, and honestly I can't hear the whole thing at all, it's basically silent.

    • I read on Reddit that it was advised to swap the fans out, which I was thinking Arctic as well.

      • +1

I have a Deepcool Gammax 240mm AIO for my desktop, I run the Arctic P12 Silents and can't hear it at all.
I wouldn't run them in a case as they don't have good pressure, however they have pressure optimised ones that should be just as quiet.

    • +2

The fans are 95% of the problem. I still hear a really low low humm sometimes from pump, but is 5% of an issue to me - which is fine.

      I got Arctic fans too.

See the other thread when they were going for $89 here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/753065

  • The AIO is OOS

  • What's best AIO water cooler under $400?

Don't want to custom loop 🙂

    • Arctic LF2 420 is pretty decent for $210

  • 1 floppy certification

    wow. I'm buying one then

  • I bought this previously at $99. The fans are louder than my Dyson V6.
Will be replacing the fans with BeQuiet.

    • Have you tried adjusting the fan curve with the software?

I ordered a couple from this deal, so want to see if I need to order more fans now.

      • +1

The fans are bearable upto 40-50% speed.. beyond that they are pretty loud. I swapped mine with arctic p14s.

        • Thanks. I will grab some replacements then.

  • Is anyone pairing this with 5600x? i know pbo makes it warm boi in some game cases As using EKWB looking keep it for my placeholder 7600 As am handing down this 5600x system to bother and need to replace the aio with something cheap. Would keep h100i plat that's cooling his 8700k delied if i could find AM4 amounting stuff for sale…
