The price is fluctuating weirdly but I bought it from Amazon a couple of days ago for 59.89.

Now cheaper again and seems to be a good price for 512gb.

There is a 3rd party seller dropping their price and this must cause Amazon's algorithm to drop in response.

I remember paying a similar amount for a 64gb card around 10 years ago for my samsung s3. What a time to be alive.

    • Unfortunately, it’s all downhill from here

    • +3

When USBs first started appearing, I paid $64 for a 32MB (yep, megabyte) stick.
Absolutely zero regrets, was infinitely superior to the floppy disks I had been using beforehand.

      • +1

I remember leaving a 1.44mb floppy disk with some school assignments. I'm feeling old now

  • Bought one to add to my collection. Thanks OP.

  • These any good for a switch?

    • +3

Yes. Slight overkill for switch specs wise but can use for switch

    • I bet the list of cards that are NOT good for a Switch would be short.

  • Great price, bought one end of last year for $100 🙄

    • Still in its original packaging?

      • +2

Nah it's in my switch 😂

  • sorry guys, I’m a bit of a novice with 4K shooting.

Is this card speed suitable for 4K video?

    • -3

Maybe one 4K video. But probably not two

    • likewise, would this be good enough for 4k recording gopro 11?

      • Yep, all good for the Gopro 11… I assume it would be the same as my 10, 4K 50fps is about 60Mbps…

Edit: these are on the Gopro recommended card list also:
        https://community.gopro.com/s/article/microSD-Card-Considera…

      • I use these in all my cameras, including GoPros, no issue at all!

Infact, I also use them in my GH6 which has 8x the bitrate requirements of the gopros ..

        GoPro 11 = 120Mbps, GoPro 10 = 100Mbps, GH6 = 800Mbps all-I, R6II = 340Mbps and Sony A7Siii = 600Mbps ;)

    • +3

It depends on the codec/bitrate that you are using for 4k but I have tested these cards shooting 4k video on Sony full frame cameras without issues.

    • +1

It depends on the bitrate of your camera. Usually it's 100mbps, which this card is more than capable of.

  • +1

Bought one for my Steam Deck, thanks OP.

    • Which size/variant did you get?
      64GB, 256GB, or 512GB VSD…

Also, how much did it cost, was it recent?
Thinking of grabbing one as well, but I'm not sure it will hold up in the harsh Cairns weather :\

  • Damn, bought for $61.15 or so yesterday, then it immediately went back up to $68.80 so thought Amazon were doing their funny pricing.

  • Waiting for 1tb

  • These good for Surface Pros?

    • +1

Using this on Surface Book with the (ninja stealth drive-https://shop.baseqi.com/products/ninja-stealth-drive-for-microsoft-surface-book)

      No problems till now.

Have easily partition SD card with partition master. Great handy storage expander

      • Thanks, I have a surface pro so I won't need the ninja drive

    • Surface Pro doesn't have the Micro SD slot anymore - you can't use this in the current models 8 or 9…

  • Great SD card, bought around $65 ish from JBhifi goodguys price match with the $10 perks voucher.

Been going strong on surface book so far.

  • Looks like Amazon sold out and its just the third party seller available now

  • EVO Plus 256gb for $36.00 here or Ultra 256gb for $33.90 from Kogan? Which would perform better in a Redmi Pad tablet?

    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/sandisk-ultra-256gb-micro-sdxc-…

    • Looks like the write speed is much higher on the EVO Plus

    • The Ultra is a slower card than the EVO Plus. Whether that matters to you is up to your use case.

  • +1

$56 at Good Guys Commercial with click and collect.

  • Not sure I'll trust the 3rd party seller who calls themselves "Secure Transaction" 🤣

  • Amazon has historically had a really bad problem with fake SD/MicroSD/USB media. Everything of the same name is chucked into the same 'bins' at the warehouse regardless of seller, so dodgy sellers mix in their fakes with the good products.

Identifying fakes involves checking capacities (writing data as opposed to looking up capacity which can be spoofed on the card) and running CrystalMark throughput tests.

Anyone know if this is still a problem? I've just avoided Amazon for anything like this for the last 3+ years.

    • Personally I've never run into fake Samsung microSD cards with Amazon and I imagine it would be easy enough to get a refund from them if you did. I've ordered about 12 of them over the last two years.

    • +1

I usually just make sure it's Amazon selling it and not a 3rd party and have been ok (as far as I'm aware)

  • +1

Still available via a 3rd party seller for $59. I bought mine from Amazon directly, hw2test checked out fine.

  • Cheers OP :)

  • Gone :(

  • Damn, paid $66.80 for it a few days ago after missing out on $60. Amazon price fluctuation is funny
