Dev giving their 3DS games away for free before sale of games end on the 3DS and Wii U eShops on 27 March

Thanks OP. Dusted off the ol' 3ds and downloaded em. Had to make sure I downloaded everything else I wanted as well and my account had 0 dollar balance.
I wish other developers did this or at least heavily discounted their games. Turned on my Wii U and 3DS last night because I still have funds on my account and hardly anything was on sale! 😞 Completely missed these though…thanks op.
Since the store is closing, unlikely anything will be on sale.
If you have a Switch, you can link your Nintendo ID account (Wii/3DS) with your Nintendo Account (switch) and merge balances
On Wii U, recommend getting the following before the eShop closes:
- Affordable Space Adventures (digital only)
- Mario Advance 4: Super Mario 3 (has the e-reader levels which are rare)
- Pushmo
On the 3DS
- Any of the Nintendo/Sega 3D games like 3D Sonic 2, 3D Streets of Rage 2, 3D Gunstar Heroes, 3D Kid Icarus
- Kirby's Adventure
- BoxBoy
- Mario & Donkey Kong - Minis on the move, Tipping stars
- Fire Emblem Fates (can't seem to find this on the eShop)
Some of these games maybe port to Nintendo Online, but that more of renting games than buying it.
Fire Emblem Fates has already been taken down but the DLC is still available, they announced this in advance because of the paths and DLC situation
NSO does have the e reader levels as well
Affordable Space Adventures is very much a Wii U experience that I don't see being ported
NSO has a lot of great classic from the back catalogue, like Donkey Kong Country trilogy, Zelda, Metroid etc
But I don't want another subscription service :-(
Any other classic that I have missed, that won't be ported to NSO?
Yeah I'd rather instead of being a sub you purchase it once and can play it on all Nintendo systems going forward, but everything seems to be moving towards subscriptions unfortunately.
Is the original Boxboy the best of the three games - if you've played the others?
Havent played. But i think the second one is the best.
Damn it! I've only played the first and really enjoyed it. Was going to spend my "eShop shutdown budget" on other games.
Cheers for the response.
@cheepo: I was going to mod the 3ds, but I am on the latest firmware (11.16.0-49E), not sure if the hack for that is reliable?
So instead I went and got some 3D classics and virtual console classics.
@congo: I do have some older modded consoles but not sure on what versions are safe to mod on the 3DS. Maybe try the GBAtemp forum.
I'm only planning on buying a handful of games before the eShop closes and going for exclusives which I can't play elsewhere unless emulated. Then I'll wait for Nintendo to announce the "HD remaster" version and re-release them after this month to ensure I buy them again! 😁
@cheepo: Yeah I think I have the same Mario game on 5 different Nintendo platforms.
Many of my Nintendo games are double up.
@congo: i think you can. any firmware

i just updated mine to the same fw as yours, and all the hacks are okay
@CyberMurning: Thank you!
Oh snap… should we make sure we download Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training
hmm i dont see it free ? it is $1.xx something next to direct download button (used website)
maybe i need to browse from the console ?
For some reason @alvian edited in the US links, go on the console since Australia doesn't have web buying for 3DS/Wii U
I just searched on the E shop via the 3DS
ok charging it now
SpeedX 3D , that game is nucking fits!!
Also giving the other game via code
I'll save the separate post as there's only an hour left for the eshop :( but Vooks is also giving away codes for Wii U games

Oh crap I didn't know the 3DS eShop is closing.
