Terms and Conditions

When does the promotion run?

The promotion runs from 00:00 (AEDT) on 1 March 2023 and ends on 11:59pm (AEDT) 31 March 2023 (“Promotion Period”).

Who is eligible for this Promotion?

"Eligible Sellers” means sellers registered on eBay.com.au who:

  • have Australia or New Zealand as their registered address on eBay; and
  • have an active eBay Plus membership; and
  • Eligible Sellers must activate the promotion in order to receive the promotion.

To activate this promotion, Eligible Sellers must have received an invitation to participate in this promotion and accepted these Terms and Conditions by either clicking “Accept offer” on the Terms and Conditions page or clicking “Get offer” under the “promotional offers” section of your My eBay account; and received confirmation from eBay that “you’ve accepted the offer”.

Once you have accepted the offer, the promotion will be automatically assigned to your account and will be visible within My eBay.
The invitation to participate in this promotion is not transferable or exchangeable.

For the avoidance of doubt, you will not receive the discount if the promotion was not activated in accordance with these terms.

What is the Promotion?

The Promotion entitles Eligible Sellers, who have activated this promotion in accordance with these terms, to 0% variable fees (which is a component of Final Value Fees as defined on eBay.com.au) on 5 sales per Promotion Period on Eligible Listings.

“Eligible Listings” means item listings that are:

  • newly listed on eBay.com.au during the Promotion Period (i.e. they cannot be relisted items through ‘Good ‘til Cancelled (GTC) or auto-renewal);
  • in multi-quantity or single quantity fixed price or auction format only; and
  • not listed in one of the Excluded Categories (as defined below).

The variable fees will be discounted directly from the eBay seller fees applicable to the Eligible Listings when they are sold.

This promotion only applies to the variable fees on Eligible Listings that are sold during the Promotion Period.

eBay reserves the right to cancel or change the offer at any time.

Items listed in the following categories are excluded from the Promotion (“Excluded Categories”):

  • Websites & Businesses for Sale (11759), Aircraft (63676), Boats (26429), Caravans, Motorhomes (32633), Cars (29690), Motorcycles (32073), Trucks, Commercial Vehicles (6049), Real Estate (10542), Services (316), Flights (3253), Tickets (1305), Travel (3252), Gift Cards (172009). These Excluded Categories are in addition to any listings or categories restricted by eBay's prohibited and restricted items policies.

  • The Promotion only applies to variable fees (a component of your Final Value Fees). For the avoidance of doubt, the Promotion does not apply to the $0.30 (incl GST) fixed order fee for non-store subscribers (or otherwise have registered for a tax exempt status with eBay) or $0.33 fixed order fee (incl GST) for store subscribers, fees for optional features or services (including Feature Fees), international selling fees or any other fees set out at eBay.com.au, as varied from time to time. See our help pages on Selling fees without an eBay Store, eBay Stores selling fees, eBay Stores fees for registered businesses, as applicable, for more information.

  • If I revise my listing will the promotion still be applied? Do I have to create a whole new listing to lower the price of my item?

    • +2

Yes, it will still be applied. Lower or raise price anytime

    @Everyone - please read below

I've previously seen a few comments asking what happens when you accept the promo, list and item but by the time your item has sold, your eBay Plus membership has expired. Questions are what fees would be charged? The 0% variable fee or the full FVF?

To answer that question, I just sold something on one of my accounts that has eBay Plus expired (which I didn't realise until now). Looking at transaction details and payout, it looks like I am still charged only the 30c fixed fee, and the 0% FVF promotion still applies.

However, this promotion has now disappeared: [eBay Plus] 10x Free Postage Labels (Australia Post & Sendle, All Sizes) for eBay Plus Members until 31/03 @ eBay Australia. Signed up to Plus again and promo is now back on :)

In case it helps anyone in the future :)

Ugh…accepted the offer, sold an item for $350, eBay just sent my payout minus $47 seller fees. Here we go again.

    • Same with me. I just sold 2 items listed during promotion period and was charged the full fee(30c + Variable Fee). In the past no variable fee was charged when I used "sell similar", but seems the eBay system now detects both "Relist" & "Sell Similar" as not eligible.

This is the reply I received from the eBay representative(so worth contacting eBay to have Fees refunded):

"I am happy to share with you that the charges on the two items has been refunded as one time courtesy, you will still have 5 items available under the promotion. The reason for the item not applying the promotion because the promotion is for new items only, if you want to have your older listings then you will have to make fresh new listings instead of relist or sell similar under the promotion policy."

Rep Reply received when asked why "Sell Similar" no longer eligible:

"The sell similar option creates a listing that has the original listing as the main listing, due to this reason, the system detects the old listing data on the new listing. "

I'm not sure if this new detection is only limited to the eBay App(as I've always used the App to "Sell Similar ") & I never use Browser.

All my listings are sell similar, and so far all transactions are being charged at $0.30 only. Not sure what's the issue with you guys, would be interesting to hear

I had them fix it via chat, but it’s not uncommon for this to happen with these eBay promo’s - lots of similar stories in previous posts.

Sounds like complete BS and pretty much par for the course when it comes to eBay help chat reps.

I've been using sell similar for yonks and thus far the promos have applied fine aside from one that I can recall when I listed via the eBay app.

Most likely random glitches for mine just like the eBay gift card issue where every now and then the funds disappear but the order doesn't go through.

      • I've had this happen once or twice, when previously when using sells similar it worked with promo fine. It might be random.

But when using sell similar I think can't recall exactly but may not have made any changes, as now I always change to not accept offers, not sure if it makes a difference, but I have a feeling by making a change to sell similar listing the system may see it as a new listing instead of just hitting 'sell similar' and list and it may read it as a relist. Just my personal opinion not if it's the case, but since I've been doing this, every sale in March has the promo applied.

I find it's the default for it to have an offer option come up by just using the sell similar button.

Here's an update on what I've tested. So I've always used "Sell Similar" using the eBay App(never browser), and it's always worked for me in the past.

Only recently last few days was I charged the full fee for the 2 sold items.
Reading other posts they had similar issues using the App (non-issue for Browser).

So, I used the "Sell Similar" option on several current listings but instead of using the App I used the Browser.
Just sold an item now and was correctly charged 30cents only.

I'm not sure if this will work going forward(or random glitches and using Browser isn't guaranteed either). However from my recent experience, I'll be using the Browser instead of the App.

          • @JA1: Same here got charged for one recently when I listed via sell similar through the app. At first thought it might have been some random glitch in the app but maybe not.

  • Does anyone know if I listed something between the promo period but items get sold in April, would I still get 0 variable fee on these items? I have sold 3, but still 2 more items unsold.

  • Anyone seen any new one for April?
