Looking to get a Weber Genesis. Model date doesn't matter would like the 4 burner version. Cheapest I can find is the old model on eBay but wonder if the ozb community can find a better deal

I've got a similar one to this with the side burner - it's been good and no major issues after 3 years. Had to replace a wheel after running it over grass and it collapsed (my fault) but Weber replaced it free of charge.
If you don't need it brand new, I got mine as the demo model from a Weber store. They cleaned it up for me and dropped about $500 off the price. Just have a chat to the guys in store if you're interested in going this way.

Easy assembly
it looks fantastic
quality parts, always lights first time
good warranty
Cooks roasts really well
Cons
box didn't fit through front door which was a pain
It doesn't get very hot over the grill - if you want a good sear on anything avoid (eg steaks, chops smash patty burgers)
SUMMARY
This is an American style bbq grill, which is great for roasts and slower style cooking.
If you are preliminary using this for steaks, burgers, chops, per the traditional aussie BBQ - this is not for you - overkill on price and under delivers on heat.
The new models have a seat section but the spirit is the same price as this ebay Genesis

Wow, good to know about it not getting hot enough for a good sear. Surprising as I've used a friend's Weber Q before that seemed to get super hot.
I cant believe how expensive BBQ's are now.. even the weber kettle….
you always see dozens of BBQ;s on hard rubbish…. is the quality really that bad, or is it only the cheap shit ones that last 12 mths…

Pretty sure Webers’ Australian franchisee sets the price for official Australian stock. Don’t think there is much wiggle room on price.
