Well, 2 cyclones have put a dampener on our planned Vanuatu trip from 29/3 to 5/4. If it becomes unviable, looking for other alternatives for our family of 4 (including 2 teenagers). Any ideas?
Looking for an Holiday Destination Alternative to Vanuatu
Comments
Switzerland then. You are further away from Putin's nuclear explosion tsunami
You have given very vague requirements therefor i say you should holiday in Ethiopia
I tend to disagree - I gave dates, ages and initial idea of location. But if that's not enough, looking for SE Asia or Pacific island preferably, but open to other ideas.
What activities or particular interests are you after? Budget?
Fiji is one nearby alternative. Without knowing anything else, you could really go anywhere in the world.
Are you after a resort, sit by the pool and have drinks brought to you; somewhere with a bit of watersports ie something similar to Vanuatu
Or somewhere that is interesting?
Or a bit of both, hit up Vietnam resort and go for a little wander into the countryside
There are the Cook Islands (Aitutaki), Fiji obviously. resort and pool sitting places
Japan. Vietnam. Malaysia. Interesting places
Bali with the Russians. A bit of everything
Guam?
Thanks for the helpful suggestions, but I guess the main reason for posting here is to see what bargains are out there, given the really short time to departs
Vietnam - luxury escapes
What's the budget? Similar tropical experience?
Similar experience. Budget around $4k for flights & accommodation

Chatgpt didn't realise that Auckland was also recently affected by natural disasters.
Score: B-
Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam all have tropical type destinations without heading to the Pacific
Then there's Bali as well of course
Genuinely appreciate the replies, but curious whether anyone has seen any actual sales they could point me at?
We have been in Vanuatu 2 times, and sad to what happened. I just recently removed New Caledonia ( because of shark attack ), so I would have to agree with people saying FIJI.
I just recently removed New Caledonia ( because of shark attack )…
Because sharks only stay close to New Caledonia, not anywhere else in the ocean
Why don't you go to South Africa or Perth then, if water is water for you. Tzk.
I'm not the one worried about shark attacks. You may want to review this:
