Good deal, $119 for 120 GB is good option IMO, unless you want more data then may be go for the $169 one for 200 GB. Otherwise you are really not benefiting anything for paying extra for more data, if you stick to coles mobile in future, and not port and recharge before expiry you can rollover data too (upto 50GB)

Not sure if the price is same instore, But is definitely this price on website

This is for New coles mobile customers only (aka if you are on coles mobile already- you need to port out then port into coles mobile again).

Ongoing recharges at $150/$200 (depending on what plan you bought) But you can also change your plan before expiry, or recharge with different plan after.

$119 for 120 GB deal expires on 7 March 2023
$169 for 200 GB deal expires on 21 March 2023

  • Do these allow international roaming? I just need to receive SMS for banking verification purposes.

This is a big deal when you go overseas and is one reason why I ported over to Coles from Belong, who do not allow SMS receipt overseas (existing customers).
Any telco that does not allow free receipt of SMS authorisations when overseas should be warned that they'll lose business

      • +1

        Same here.
I was loyal Boost customer until I was overseas and need to receive authorisation sms for banking. Boost want $30 roaming fee, and it even limit how many sms you can receive.

        • You can use Telstra WiFi calling and WiFi sms while oversea and connect to a WiFi there. I am with Boost and used it during my oversea trip last Xmas. Received calls and sms while connecting to WiFi oversea.

          • @ts: I never knew this…
            I'll give it a try

          • @ts: Another method is if your phone can take 2 sims (or esim) then within Australia have one sim for phone calls and one sim for authorizations only.

So for example have your Boost sim for phone calls within Australia and another sim for authorizations only.
When you travel you can replace your Boost phone call sim with a overseas phone call sim and turn on international roaming for the authorization sim.

Because you will only receive authorization sms messages on the roaming sim the roaming costs should not be much and no one from Australia will call you on the authorization sim as no one knows that number.

My plan with Boost ends April 1st and I won't be staying with them because I can't receive SMS overseas

  • How's coles mobile connection in geelong area?

  • +3

If you already have an optus connection , and its borderline conncected then with this MVNO drop a bar off that signal meter. Fine in good optus coverage areas, not so elsewhere.

Do they have Volte and Vowifi?
Can not find anything on the website.

    • +1

They are rolling out Volte now. Mine is already activated

Is there anything similar to this deal on Telstra network?

365 days, Unlimited calls to a number overseas countries as well as local calls plus decent data?

    • Closest to that in telstra network would be ALDI/Woolies/Boost mobile (probably woolies or boost is best value)

      • +1

No free overseas calls with Woolies or Aldi.

        Boost looks promising, thanks!

        • I'm with Boost but won't be renewing because I can't receive SMS overseas

          • @x x: You can use Telstra WiFi calling and WiFi sms when connecting to WiFi oversea.

            • +1

@ts: when you have wifi. if we had 90-98% wifi coverage you wouldn't need a telco sim at all.

              • @Ryk: Fair point. I just crossed wire between your post and other posts about receiving sms for banking while oversea.

        • Woolies also has 10% of monthly shopping too so it mya be better if you are a big spender at woolies

          • @USER DC: Can you receive SMS overseas with Woolies?

          • @USER DC: No free OS calls at Woolies so it doesn’t suit my use case

  • Any good recommendation for port-out then port back to Coles?

    • What better one then boost mobile 100% Cashback deal.

If however you need to port in and out earlier then aldi $5 is best option

  • Can I pay with coles giftcard?

    • +1

I just went to a Coles store and purchased this SIM pack. I had a couple of Coles gift cards, but was unable to pay using them.

    • Weird, I've bought 120$ plan last time with $100 giftcard+20$ cash over the counter and it works just fine

      • @ICEFIR did you buy another stuff as well?

Previously I bought a sim card together with my groceries, and the self serve checkout accept my first gift card, but decline the second one.

    • That's interesting. I tried at a self serve checkout. When I called the assistant over she said 'you can't pay for a gift card with a gift card'.

      • Did you explained to her that you not buying a gift card? She was probably confused. I’ve paid couple times Coles prepaid with gift cards without problem.

  • Wish Woolworth can match it.

    • Why would they? Different network, etc. etc.

      • +1

        wishful thinking.

  • Hi OP, does that means I have to activate the 120GB one by the 7th of March?

Edit: also, what happens if I place the order today for $119, wait for shipping (~5 days), then activate?

    • +1

i don't think it matter when you activate it. It's just the price will increase on the 7th for the 120GB SIM. There's nothing special about the SIM packs, they're just your usual 365 days credit SIMs.

    • -1

You can probably get away with that, But its more important to know the sim card expiry date, (buying online doesn't show that)

And if activating after 30 days, Coles can refuse to honor the same data, (e.g. may be change the fact that $150 sim kit, has 100 GB only instead of 120GB, I doubt that to happen though)

I am not sure about the price of this instore, But if you buy instore, you can know the sim expiry date

  • +1

Well I have been with Boost for 4 years, in Jan i visited India without any roaming plans and I was getting sms without any costs. I'm on 365 day plan with Boost.

    • Is it iMessage or normal sms (green colour)?
AFAIK iMessage is using data connection only

      • I'm talking about Banking sms.

    • Same here. I am on 365 day plan with Boost as well and I was able to receive SMS while I was travelling in Malaysia last month.

    • +1
  • Thank you OP, was paying $20 for belong with 5GB monthly plan.

  • Not for existing customers? My number is expiring today.

    Any other recommendation?

    • +1

Buy boost with CR, (wait 3-7 days to get sim card delivered)

Otherwise go to aldi, port number to aldi, and then

then ofcourse port to coles mobile again (given you buy coles sim before deal expires)

      • thank you

  • Im looking for the Coles deal $1 for thre months ie:$3, was on here last week. Any help?
