980

This cashback increase for NordVPN is back again for new customers. Offer ends Mar 6 11:59pm AEDT.

Be sure to check the terms below and TA's handy tips here

Special Terms

Cashback is eligible for new NordVPN customers only.

Cashback is eligible only on NordVPN plans, and not on any up-sold products such as NordPass & NordLocker.

Cashback may be ineligible if using codes not listed on Cashrewards, and ineligible on any payments made with Crypto currency.

Cashback is calculated and paid on the advertised cost of the plan only. It will not include any GST, taxes, credit card or PayPal surcharges.

The amount that tracks to your Cashrewards account may differ to the paid amount due to international exchange rates. Your initial payment is converted to USD, then converted back to AUD when reported to us. The advertised cashback rate is based on the reported amount, not the paid amount. Cashrewards has no control over this process.

  • so confusing…someone double check?

    For Standard

So $83.79 for 2 years then 96% cash reward

    So…$3.35 for 2 years? hmmm

    • +2

That's about right. I grabbed the PIA VPN cashback deal mid last year.
I paid $75AUD then got a $70AUD cashback. $5 for two year VPN access essentially.

    • Hmm, I did the same calculations too. Mine was showing $83.76, but it works out to $3.35 regardless. Seems too good to be true, but I'm very interested in going for it

    • +2

its a monthly deal at this rate, you can see past deals with similar cashback rates

    • Fwiw last time this deal came around:

      Visa Card Charge: $125
      Cashrewards: $117

      ~93.5% cashback with fees etc.

    • +1

      so actually..it is
      $136 charged to my CV
      minus $115.74 cash reward

so around $22 AUD for standard plan, got 3 months free, so 27 months…

      81 cents a month.

      • You paid gst

        • didnt want cashreward to give any excuse of my order being not how it should have been. small fee.

  • +8

Last time they said 96% but only came thru as 89%,, they blamed GST (since I said I was in Delaware, there was none) then the exchange rate, but that'd ha e to be using airport money exchange.

So just a heads up, it will be cheap, but not 96%

    • Same thing happened to me last time, it didn't quite work out to be 96%…

    • Yeh they just blamed conversion rate. I cancelled mine and will for shopback to do this deal.

      • It'll track the same for Shopback. Cashrewards are giving back 96% of what NordVPN are reporting to them.

        • Last time i did shopback, it was 100%, I got paid out 105% (ie more then they were offering)

          • @M00Cow: That would mean NordVPN reported more than they should have, so I'd call that a win. Perhaps they've picked up now?

  • +1

If I ask Nordvpn to delete my old account, can I re-subscribe using this if I sign up a new account using the same email?

  • +4

Don’t recommend this deal I’ve done it in the past and it wouldn’t track properly and support wouldn’t do anything about it. I’ve had no issue with any other deal from Cashrewards tracking though. So I assume it’s something on nordvpns end

  • When you say 96% do you mean 80%

    • Exactly, you will only get 80% back when they deducted $$ FX conversion costs. It is very misleading.

      • It's bs because all my cards don't attract conversion fees, just tell me which currency to pay in. It's bs as cash rewards is Aussie based and Nord isn't.

    • +1

Cashrewards will give you 96% of what NordVPN are reporting to them.

  • +1

Spewing…. just signed up last night.

    • +3

Apparently nordvpn offers 30-day money back guarantee :D

  • Also 20% off @ Pizza Hut on CR :)

  • err did i do something wrong??
I signed up to the 2 yr plan got charged A$261.39 but cash back is only A$136.57
    :(

    • Nah, you didn't do anything wrong.. I think that is in line with the other comments here. For reference I got AUD115 back on a 2 yr plan (I paid AUD234 - I probably can't explain the difference there.) I was hoping to get more back too.. not sure if I should make noise to either cashback or nord

      • +2

I think I figured it out

Cashback is eligible only on NordVPN plans, and not on any up-sold products such as NordPass & NordLocker.

The difference is the fees for NordPass and NordLocker

        • +2

Interesting. I wonder how many others have signed up for those and having issues.

I'll go bold it in the OP 😉

          • +1

@Clear: Yeh. The usual ozb thinking of buy now think later stuffed me.
            Others please note!

            • +1

@ChatCPT: For what it's worth, if you don't want all that you can get on live chat and they'll refund the entire order and you can try again next time

              • @fedwood: Thanks mate! I emailed their support yesterday soon as I realised and they just replied now with that option.
Live chat sounds better for sure!

                • @ChatCPT: Yeh happened to me too.

                  Step 1. Buy now.
Step 2. Check what you bought and what you actually paid later.

  • Hmmm should I trust CR again

    • +2

They certainly won't try to burn down your house like Heymix does.

      • True, but 96% is quite an asking too

  • How does this compare to Mullvad?

    • +4

Depends what you need it for. Mullvad is better if you value privacy, but for getting around region blocking etc. this works well. The golden rule applies here though - if they are giving you 95+% back, your data is the product.

  • can we change the tax country to argentina which is 0% and still get the cashback 96%?

    • +1

Yes 0 tax for US back on mid Jan but few more % loss in conversion.

      You can try tax claim

      • 👍

  • +1

Paid in USD to avoid tax and getting caseback in AUD which worked out of be AUD8.6 for 2 years back on mid Jan and still waiting for approval (est by late April)

  • what are people using this for? besides signing up to Argentina youtube premium or Netflix turkey or whatever

    • I use mine for work mostly.. :D

    • Bbc iplayer

      • How do you get BBC iplayer to work? Once signed in and try playing anything it keeps asking - Got a TV Licence?

        • +1

Just select yes. They don’t check.

    • Always assume porn first, then streaming 2nd. Besides that there's not much else

      • +1

why do you need vpn for porn? what am i missing?

      • what kind of porn r u into that u need a vpn? no kink shame dw

    • +1

It was useful whilst I was Bali recently to appear to be from Australia for websites, work, streaming.

      • Ahh yes

        "work" from "home"

        nice

    • Mainly for torrents. Websites the Aus government don't want me to see, and getting around geo-blocked videos / porn.. uh, for a friend.

  • +2

I hope this is not confused with the Nord Stream pipeline & targeted by the US/UK/Norway terrorists ;)

    • -2

      Found the Russian.

      • Russian trash* There's a few of them.

  • I'm getting $100 for 2yr standard plan… is this about right? As I can see some are seeing less?

PS I'm currently overseas for a business trip so is it due to my location?

  • It looks like NordVPN have passed a recent security audit. Read what you may into it, but at least it shows that they are willing to pay for someone to look at their network:

    https://nordvpn.com/blog/cure53-security-assesment/#:~:text=….

I don't use a VPN much, but I find that it works well. The Windows client is slow to load though.

  • +2

Prices displayed are in USD, despite it saying charges are in AUD ($123.96 for 2 years plus 3 month birthday gift). I contacted support and was told that "$" is USD charge and that this can be found in the disclaimer. Waiting for cashback to track and if it tracks differently, I will cancel it atraight away.
EDIT: cashback tracked as $115.74, making it $8.22 for 27 months.

  • +1

Fwiw last time this deal came around:

    Visa Card Charge: $125 AUD
    Cashrewards amount: $81 USD
    Cashrewards reward: $117 AUD

    ~93.5% cashback with fees etc.
Imo only losing 2.5% on the multiple exchanges is pretty reasonable. AUD (card) -> USD (payment) and USD (CR amount) -> AUD (reward).
People getting <90% back would recommend you check your bank doesn't have excessive international charge/xfer fees.

    • I subscribed NordVPN when CR had the same deal (96%) last month. CR confirmed transaction amount US$84 (AU$124), but it only offered AU$109.7 reward to me and many other buyers took the same deal. I made a claim with CR and they told me it was due to FX conversation for the reward itself (not credit card charges). Apparently they increased the actual reward ratio this time perhaps due to too many complains last month.

      • That’s odd. The other thought I had was they they were basing reward FX rate at the ~90day mark not time of purchase. In my case the USD/AUD had changed (+7%) so perhaps that’s why it ended up being so close?

  • +1

I took the deal and ended up with 3 years standard standard plan for AU$27.14

NordVPN charged US$100.62 for standard 2 year plan
    PLUS
NordVPN birthday present of an additional 1 year standard plan.

Add 10% GST which makes it US$110.68

    Visa card charge AU$163.71
CashRewards cashback email received 45 minutes later showed US$99 paid, AU$136.57 cashback

Makes a total of AU$27.14 for 3 years standard plan.

    • How to be qualified for the 1 year standard plan birthday present? 1 year for free that's very generous!

      • +1

        Don't know,

Just got an email after subscribing:

        Congratulations! Here’s your gift
You’ve participated in NordVPN’s 11th birthday giveaway and received a gift: 1 year of extra service time!
No action required — it was added automatically on top of your current subscription package.

        Stay safe!
        The NordVPN team

        • Thanks for sharing

        • hmm. i got 3 months.Did you get the standard plan?

      • +2

The website says its random, either 12 moths or 3 months Good luck

  • +1

    Approval date 07-06-2023 USD $83.90 $115.74
    Cost about $15, used US$

    2yrs + 3months
My subscription was running out next month.
qBittorrent can be set so it only downloads using specified VPN
As far as I know Nord doesn't keep logs

  • +2

I just bought the two year standard for $136.36 AUD, and got an email stating with 115.74 AUD cashback. So about 85% allegedly. 21 dollars for two year not too bad

    • check if you got 3 free months or 12 months bonus. Info is sent on email.

    • Same for me with 3 months free

    • Same deal price for me with three months free.

    • I think you may have paid 10% GST. Mine was $123.96 / cash back $115.42 after choosing a no-tax state in USA.

  • +1

I was a 3 yrs surfshark user. I cancelled prior nord offer and waiting surfshark one again.
I think surfshark is much easier and well connected.

    • My 3 year sub to Surfshark ends tonight :(. I was very happy with them. They have a sale on at the moment but I'd rather have the Cash Rewards offer again.

      • ive got a month to go, but yeah wondering what to do! surfshark has been good and easy

        • +1

I have just tried the Shopback deal on Surfsharf. Will update hopefully with a confirmed track

      • Is Surfshark good for watching Netflix from another country ?

        • +1

I found it doesnt work with the smart tv app but works on my Android app which I just send through to the tv. Also works with Mubi if you are into Mubi type filfms

    • +1

Shopback are offering 98% back on surfshark

      • It states it is for new customers only. I wonder if a different email is enough.

    • For under $1 month I'd get both and have more servers to servers to chose from

  • I have a Nord account but never bought membership from them, will this still work?

Want to use my mail email.

  • I was charged in AUD Visa Card Charge: $126
    Cashrewards: $115

But I use a deco m5 direct to FTTP. The M5 does not support VPN so do I have any choice other than to instal the VPN on to every single device I have?
    PC/mobiles
I guess, no point/way with tv, iot, minor devices

Would I need to keep my home assistant set up some way so it's faster?

  • This hasn’t tracked overnight for me. Good thing you can cancel.

    • Good news. It did track after all. Definitely allow more than the 1-4 hours mentioned as a general guide. No need to cancel anymore.

  • I did this last time and found the experience pretty bad. When I clicked through the CR app to the Nord site it didn't state anywhere that the prices were in US dollars. Very misleading. I followed up with support who said it's clear before you click through that it's US dollars but it's not.

I was going to post in that thread but it was locked for some reason.

  • How long does it take to track as i've had no confirmation from cashrewads that the transaction took place?

  • Never mind It finally tracked through

  • In case you are interested, NordVpn is not working in China Mainland at all.

    • good

  • I'm a current NordVPN customer and my subscription ends on December 26th. What should I do? Wait for another offer to come up later this year? Or cancel the current subscription and sign up with a different e-mail? These offers seems to be quite frequent, but the timing is the thing…

    • +1

december is a loooong time to go. i would wait till xmas for sale then. worst case use one of the free ones while in limbo.

      • Thanks. That's what I was thinking too. There should be another similar discount later around Xmas time (fingers crossed).
