Two Burner Cooktop with a Built-in BBQ Unit

We are constructing a house and for outdoor kitchen area we need to provide builder a measurement of a built in BBQ so their cabinetry team can make cut outs accordingly. The BBQ unit needs to be purchased by us, but builder will help to setup it. We don’t need 4 or more burners either, happy with 2. Total budget is max $1500.

I’m thinking of Beefeater BS19942

Any feedback about this model or any other better alternative for this?

Appreciate your inputs. TIA.

  • You should consider how close you are to the ocean/harbour when making your decision as the salt air will eat cheap bbqs quickly. This could be expensive later if joinery and stone has been custom made around the cheap bbq dimensions

    • Thanks for the comments.
      We are no where near water.

  • +1

    Longevity of the unit is a good point, especially if it’s exposed. I’ve never looked at built ins but I wonder how generic the sizing is. Eg walloven is commonly 600x600. Hot plate cutouts are fairly unique. ditto MWs - esp combo units. Perhaps consider what you’ll do if the unit needs to be replaced in say, 10 years time

  • I'm not convinced that BBQ has a good hot plate.

    IMO you want 3mm thick (or greater) BBQ plate - anything less is horrible to cook on.

  • OP … what is your budget for your outdoor/BBQ area ???
    ++ overall is this an expensive build where everything is 100% top of the line/perfect?

    I've seen afew builds - regarding outdoor area …

    Builder simply "cuts out" - a space for BBQ … using standard specs.
    Then simply … wheel in your portable BBQ into the space.

    1.) no need to get a plumber to install a gas line ($1200+) to the BBQ area.
    2.) burner/hotplate option == 100% your choice.

    afew other things I could say, but will leave it at that.
