Which TV Retailer Has Provided The Best TV Sales

I'm looking at a new TV (Sony 85") and the big retailers have it at the same price at the moment.

Since I'm using my price protection card, I'm wanting to buy from a retailer which is most likely going to provide the lowest price in the future.

Probably much of a muchness but which retailer would you buy from given the same price?

Wait till the next big sale?

  • How much do you think it will drop?
Woolworths have 10% TCN Him gift cards, which you can use at JB.

    • Good point about using GCs. But then I lose my price protection.

In regards to further price drops, I don't know.

The TV I'm looking at has currently dropped to the best price I've seen being $2807.25 via eBay with code. $2755.40 from Sony website with CR. The other retailers are within $200 and I'm sure I can get a price match.

Best price was $3756 earlier in the month.

I almost pulled the trigger last week with $3,325.50 price matched - 12% CR - $100 Amex
= $2,826 (but CR wasn't guaranteed and I would lose my price protection using amex).

So, I don't know how much it will drop.

I bought my XR65X90K from Sony online during Black Friday. The price was the same as the other major retailers. The price has dropped twice since then at Sony, and matched the price of other retailers.

Sony had the benefit of 12% cashback with cashrewards at the time (although it didn't track initially).

Service from Sony was quite poor. There was no update regarding dispatch. I called to follow-up and they responded a week after it had already arrived. DHL notified me that it was being dispatched the day after it arrived.

    • Yeah I've had a poor experience with Sony too. I got the message it was delivered but I didn't have it. Their live tracking said it was delivered in the middle of a nature reserve 20kms away. I found it at the front of our property propped up against a fence. Funny thing was, it was signed for.

Are you talking 28 degrees? The price doesnt havent to be for same retailer …

Really? That's awesome. I'm with Coles cc which has pp. But it has to be with the same retailer.

      • Ah, fair enough. How do they go with ebay based discount code stacking? Or do they only match on listed price?

        • +1

Not sure with eBay stacking. They've been really reliable in the past with other stores which included codes.

Is that still around for new 28 degrees customers? Do you pay an annual fee?

          • +1

@OldBugger: Only around for OG customers. I've had mine for easily over 10 years.
The only fee is the 1.5(?)% on any balance at time of your billing cycle.

I always pay off my balance within same week, only ever got charged once haha.

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Ha, good job. Man, I've been charged numerous times on that balance fee. The statement date keeps changing. I always therefore pay it off early but in between payment and statement date, sometimes a large debit comes through (eg. electricity auto payment, or a purchase) that pushes the balance under. I'm getting in the habit of making payments $1000 over the balance owing just to cover such occurrences.
