Robot Vacuum Advice/Recommendations (Self-Cleaning)

Hey guys,

I've looked at a few video reviews, so far the Roborock Q7 Max+ and Dreame Bot W10 both look pretty good to me.
Anyone had experience with these? Any pro/cons?

Or any other robot recommendations under $1500? (looking for mop & self-clean function).
My main concern is cat/dog fur, long hair, dust/dirt. Floors are granite and carpet.

Cheers

We recently got the S7+, seems OK so far, a lot better than the Deebot N8+ we had prior.

Yes I have the Q7 Max+ and pretty happy. It's been running twice a day in selective areas. Floors are floating floorboards, large tiles and carpet. I got it to replace a Viomi S9 with similar capabilities (battery died but I have since replaced it).

I don't have any animals so can't comment on that and I haven't used the mopping function on it (use the Viomi for that irregularly). I neglect it a bit and it is mostly fine. Does sometimes get stuck on a bar stool with circular stand. The roller is good in that it does not get hair stuck around the actual roller. However, hair does end up getting caught around the ends of the roller which is harder to remove. I have left it there and hopefully it doesn't cause a strain on the motor. Maybe I will just deal with it at the end of the roller's life, which might be 6 months, i.e. just throw it out and replace

  • I have a Roidmi Eve plus - picked up from Kogan for $550 a year ago (had $400 free credit from the credit card).

    been working great ever since.

  • Thanks guys :)

We actually have a few steps separating one living room, and our bedrooms are upstairs, anyone had experience with multi-storey use? Do you physically move the robot upstairs, then bring it down again to charge, or would it be better to just invest in another robot? I won't need mopping for upstairs cause it's all carpet, so I could probably get something cheaper.

    • I'd buy two as moving it up and down the stairs messes up the mapping. For the few steps in the living room, make a ramp for the vacuum to climb.

    • The mapping is fairly robust on Roborock, so I have moved it to a different floor and back a few times without map issues. On my Viomi I have lost the map a few times on the same floor, which can be infuriating.

      • My iroomba S7+ lost it's map. It use to always go full speed into the wall too. Surely with a map it knew the wall was there! For such an expensive vacuum you couldn't even track it on the app. Mine got lost so many times. I'd send it to the bedroom and it would go in the opposite direction to the kitchen. I couldn't run it when I was at home. It was such a frustrating vacuum.

I still have a Roomba from a decade ago, when there were no decent alternatives. Once the Chinese robot vacuums hit the market iRobot products seemed like terrible value and I haven't had a reason to look at them since.

  • I have a Roborock S7 Plus. Before I had an iRoomba S7+. The Roborock is excellent. Now the floor always looks immaculate. It scrubs the floor when it cleans. I have a two year old so it manages to scrub the tiles really well. He did a brilliant job on keeping her rug clean too.

Check out this channel on YouTube. This guy does all the testing. Now he even pays for the vacuums out of his own money.
