Because this isn't a gaming console

$50 off $500 JB Hifi Perks

    $50 minimum spend required

    how does that work?

  • +1

If you have AMEX, there's also spend $300, get $50 back instantly at Harvey Norman.

  • Pretty good deal on this newly released kit. Does everyone's code end in 35QK? Just checking if it's the same as their "exclusive" but free-for-all other codes.

    • +1

      No, it's truely exclusive

    • +2

      My code is different

  • Where to try this in Sydney?

  • +4

I think I'll look into picking one of these up when they hit $500 or so.

At this price it's almost impossible to justify given the lacklustre game catalogue. Great if you're a hobby enthusiast but just can't see myself using this more than a month as someone who plays a fair chunk of games regularly.

    • +6

The catalogue is already quite stacked! I can't understand why so many people keep repeating this same statement about a lackluster catalogue.

You have so many great experiences already and heaps of confirmed titles which look excellent on their way. I have only purchased around 4 of the titles so far and I am still overwhelmed with which one I want to play.

      • I'm GT7, Horizon, Kayak and Pavlov thus far. You?

        • +1

Im in the same boat. Beatsaber would probably push me over the line, but it hasn't been released yet. Kayak looks beautiful but I'm not sure it would hold my attention and Horizon looks great, but watching gameplay of combat it feels a bit tech demo'y. Resident Evil looks like it would be fun too tbh. I just cant justify that much money on something that doesnt have a "I NEED to play this" game. If they had Half Life Alyx it would go a long way to convincing me, but it doesn't look like thats happening at the moment.

I figure I dont need it right now, so if I wait another 6 months its not going to be a big deal, I've still got a massive PS5 backlog from last year (elden ring, deathloop, AC Valhalla, GoW, Uncharted remasters, Guardians of the Galaxy).

@Intoxicoligist: I've heard excellent things about Synth Riders as being a different but similar experience as Beat Saber. Plus the music lineup (and DLC) looks great.

Apparently Pistol Whip has become great after a year of updates and more free content coming too.

        • So far I have been playing a whole lot of RE8 and GT7. I have Kayak, Pistol Whip and the Tetris Effect upgrade sitting there waiting to play, but it is hard to take myself away from RE8 and GT7 being the constant rotation. Been loving it so far, really looking forward to trying out Pavlov whenever I pick it up, it looks really good.

        • GT7, Kayak, Zombieland headshot fever or w/e it's called. So much fun! and Tentacular. Heaps I've downloaded that I can't even get to - too much content

      • Because most people (I imagine) going into PSVR2, have already played a lot of those titles previously on a different device.

I claimed the $50 off with $300 spend at Harvey Norman. Sony online was sold out so couldn't use the $100 off $500, plus I didn't want the Horizon package.

Been playing GT7 a bit - good 'experience'. I play PCVR too and what the PS VR2 dominates the others in is the simplicity. Just literally turn on and game runs in VR, where PC is booting up Windows, then Steam VR, then game and making sure the settings are correct etc.

PC games are far more detailed and in-depth, as example GT7 is very arcadic as a racing game.

I do see the titles at release being a bit light on when compared to Steam or even Meta/Oculus, but each to their own.

The VR2 is more comfortable to wear than my Reverb G2.

    • Where did you find the Harvey Norman code?

      • +1

Sorry, the $50 off $300 Harvey Norman and $100 off $500 Sony spends are through American Express (AMEX).

My bad, I just assumed others knew about the posted deals.

        • Ah yes - no worries, thanks!

    • What are your thoughts on the image sharpness vs the G2?

      • Hhmmm…. I mainly play racing games so 'sharpness' is a little less important, but still up there. I think the G2 is 'brighter', but as the VR2 is completely sealed against the face, there's no input form any other light source.

VR2 is easier to get the 'sweet spot' for viewing so it's hard to say if it's sharper, but for more time gaming I find the VR2 is in its sweet spot. The G2 can easily become undone from the spot.

      • Thought I'd do a quick update having tested both again.

In my mind, VR2 is better than G2. I can definitely see further into the corners for racing.

Downside is quality of racing games utilising VR are better on PC than PS5.

Only PlayStation VR2 games can be played with the PS VR2 headset and PS VR2 Sense controller. The original PS VR headset and games can be played on a PlayStation 5 console using the PlayStation Camera adapter.

Having said that, there are over 30 games so far available to play already.

Really tempted to pull the trigger to play No Man's Sky in VR. The music and overall feel of that game can be very immersive, I think!!
