Exetel nbn Business Price Increase

I received the following email, did everyone get something similar? Or did they just decide to jack up the price for the old customers?

I've been on an SMB NBN $70 plan for a few years and now they are putting it up by $10 which will make them have similar prices to other more reputed ISPs. Any thoughts?

We strive to deliver both value for money and quality internet services, which the ACCC has recognised as a leader in their speed rankings for three consecutive quarters of 2022. However, like every other business, with increased nbn and other costs, we will also need to increase our prices.

On your next billing date occurring after 1 April 2023, you will be moved onto the SMB 50/20 Unlimited Loyalty plan for $80 a month. You will continue to have access to your existing features, and your internet speeds will not be affected. Your account management and prioritised support teams will remain the same, and you can continue to manage your account spending and usage on My Exetel.

We thank you for your ongoing support, and if you have any questions about this change, don't hesitate to contact your account manager or call us at 1300 636 308.

  • You were already on a jacked up price according to this
    https://business.exetel.com.au/small-business/nbn

    Business 50/20 is $65

That is introductory offer - $65 for first 6 months then $85 p/m ongoing

      • sneaky buggers

    • Does this pricing include a Phone / Voice Over IP service, if so then its pretty standard and not bad. Plus the Business plans come with a static IP address so that is why the price is a little higher.

Just jump over to 5G Home internet mate if its available to you. If you are lucky, you likely wont complain much about it. Although Melbourne outer regions are pretty not so shabby with this 5G Home internet roll over

I switched to spintel for home internet due to price rises and they have been good.

    • Yea I have spinel for my home connection used to have exetel for home as well, didn't know they had an SMB NBN, I'll check it out. Thanks. I need to see if they can change over couple of VOIP lines from exetel though.

I never knew an ISP could just raise their prices while on an old plan, technology supposed to be cheaper over time not the other way around. Shame on Exetel, hope they'll lose all their customer base soon.

      • No that isn't the case, the cost of power and rack space in the Datacentres across Australia has been going up for the last few years power in particular.
Also staff wages have gone up as well.
Not to mention NBNCo are due to raise prices on some of the plans in the next few months.
CVC costs are due to change for providers as well.
Not to mention not every NBN Business offering is the same, some providers will bundles in 4G or 5G backup services for when the NBN connection falls over and some will also offer Ehanced Service Level Agreements from NBN Co which means your service gets restored quicker in an outage.
It is worth asking your provider.

        • Either way this is the first time (for me at least) an ISP is putting their prices up for an existing customer on an old plan , while other ISPs are offering similar plans for cheaper. It's more like exetel asking me to look elsewhere, which I will.

          • @findthatbargain: That is fare enough though I would check to make sure you don't need to give them 30 days notice or pay any termination fees. Also do you have a phone service with them? If so I would first port your number either to a dedicated voip provider or to your new ISP if your bundling your phone with your new broadband Business plan.
Once the number has been ported then transfer your NBN service that way you won't loose your business phone number.
If your happy using a mobile for your business or you have your Voip through another provider already you can ignore the above and just order your new service.
