Only 1 qty can be ordered per account. The packaging cost is probably more expensive than the item itself. :D

Cheers boss grabbed the soup mug and a few of those noody bowls. Not exactly sure why.

  • Efficient microplastic delivery system for the low price of 1.82 dingo bucks

    • +1

      I can empathize here.
While I respect people that use these items on a daily basis, to me is lack of common sense to believe that sealed plastic containers in microwaves will not migrate any substance into what you eat.

        • A lot of people die from cancer.

            • @G-rig: And how are you an expert on this?

Cancer causes are very much an unknown overall and both can cause cancer.

        • It’s not clear why you would suggest discarding the glass container. If 200g extra for glass container and a tea towel makes your backpack too heavy to carry fair enough but most of us can use every day

Plastics in the body have been shown to add to cancer risk. I have no issues with people that are happy to take the risk on as risks are everywhere but don’t see the logic in saying alcohol is worse. Two things (profanity) you up don’t cancel out

            • @G-rig: The way you said it made it sound like you were referring to discarding glass. Not sure if you're trolling but transferring the food to another container a. wouldn't make much difference and b. would require another container

            • @G-rig: and the alcohol is worse whataboutism?
There's a lot more on top of cancer, think of hormone disruption, gut biota being affected and on and on..

          • @robinbanks: ? Source. I am unaware of any food-safe plastics that have been linked to cancer. Not to mention plastics are readily used in medical devices that remain in the body for prolonged periods without issue.

Cancer Research UK makes it very clear that plastic food storage including heating is not linked to cancer risk.

            https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/causes-of-canc…

            • @OpticalCog: That website claims that Acrylamide (burnt food) being cancer causing is a ‘myth’ so I’d say they’re most likely taking advantage of some ambiguity in the literature to please some industry sponsorships. Look up imbedding plastics into rats (weird but similar to reinforcing broken bones with titanium if you think about it) and the cancerous tumours it causes. I’ll dm you a link if you can’t find it

              • @robinbanks: You must be trolling at this point, sad given how important health information is. I mean seriously you think the big 'burnt toast' industry is sponsoring cancer research, mate - take the tin foil hat off.

If you have superstitions that mean you're scared of plastic that's fine - but please don't spread misinformation about health topics and especially don't falsely claim there is supporting research.

On the off chance, you aren't trolling:

Please for the love of science don't tell me you are basing your 'plastic food storage causes cancer' stance on a paper published in 1953 that surgically embedded plastic films into small rodents. Whilst ignoring hundreds of current papers that have analysed the topic of plastic food storage safety directly. I assure you that eating food from a plastic container is very different to having plastic film surgically embedded into muscle. I agree that cutting open your muscles and placing saran wrap in them is not advisable, but this is irrelevant to the topic at hand.

FYI the author of the paper you're referring to also published that metal foils do the same thing so based on your logic better stop using metal utensils, pots/pans, drink bottles, etc. Using a fork to bring food to your mouth isn't going to harm you, embedding a fork into your brain, on the other hand, will likely cause harm. The fork isn't the issue it's what you're doing with it. Plastic isn't the issue it's what's being done with it.

                • @OpticalCog: Ok lol calm down. Acrylamide occurs in fried food not just burnt toast mate. If you think corporate interests (McDonalds) aren’t directly affecting not just the type of research that gets done but also the results and recommendations of institutions sorry but you’re just not informed

With the information that microplastics can and do enter the body when eating out of these containers, and the information that they go into our blood, does that not stop and make you think? Where does blood go? The muscle maybe? These tiny objects have also been shown to damage organs and cause cell death. Also, dioxins and their links to cancer are not disputable and people that use these products aren’t aware that melted plastics (I’ve seen many things like these partially melted sitting in peoples cupboards) are spilling these chemicals into their food

    Got one! Thanks OP

  • Why is the mug slightly smaller than a 500mL can of soup…

    • still fits in - 500mL not to the top in the can i don't think.

      • Yeah a 500mL can of soup might be sold by weight, not volume.

    • it says 450ml in the description but it is labelled as 500ml in the pictures and advertised as 500ml elsewhere…

      • The description obviously wrong then, maybe you should report it. Fwiw I've put a big can of soup in and it fits.

This deal is like admission in Uni. Waiting list 🤣

  • I have this mug and I find it one of the hardest things to clean properly… Oils just keep sticking to it.

    • Why putting oil in it..

They seem find for reheating stufff like soup and frozen peas etc - just rinse straight after (like anything) or in dishwasher.

      • This soup mug is actually great for cooking noodles (pour in hot water, wait 3 mins, enjoy/drain). Noodles have oil.

The hardest part for me is around the rim.

        • Fair enough yep.

Can put in a bowl with a plate over it if doing that or stove much quicker (and can add more stuff).

The container probably handy for work though.

          • @G-rig: The lid does make it easier for draining versus other methods, but yeah it is handy.

    Mug is $5.20 now.
