SanDisk Extreme SSD Cheap and Local - $115 120GB, $229 240GB and $449 480GB from Scorptec [Melbourne]

110

So we all know and love these little Sandisk SSD's. Scorptec has just dropped the price on these yet again.

Best I've seen for local pricing / pickup. Available until stocks last.

120GB @ $115
240GB @ $229
480GB @ $449

EDIT: Stores are in Victoria at Clayton, Malvern, Rowville and South Melbourne. However was referring to local as in Australia, don't have to buy from overseas like similar recent deals on Sandisk and Crucial SSD's.

  • Cheap and local? everyone is supposed to guess where u live?

    • Yeah, title needs to identify that the stores are in Melbourne

Local as in Australia, most of the SSD deals on here are from overseas. Which can equal delayed shipping and sometimes warranty issues. Scorptec have four stores in VIC. Clayton, Malvern, Rowville and South Melbourne. I'll add location details to first post.

EXACTLY the same price as MSY…..

    • +2

Yeah…. but you don't have to deal with MSY. Was no other post at these prices that I could see.

    • and even cheaper at ARC Computers .. one of the best stores to deal with if something goes wrong with the part :)

      • Yeah i love how ARC is not as popular as MSY. They're maybe $1-$3 more expensive on parts, but it sure is better than waiting half an hour in line, only to find out they're out of stock (you would've phoned ahead to check but no one answers the phone).

  • sweet to see PRICE DROP! bring on the price war on SSD!!
however Intel 330/520 seem to has better value/price/performance/stability?

thanks for posting out & sharing this deal, wouldn't have notice the price drop!

    • Well the 330s are on par for value, the 520s are quite a bit worse. The 330s are older, but I'm pretty sure they're still good quality. The 520s are much newer and definitely top quality/performance, but that's not to say the Sandisks are worse. Sandisk is a new player to the SSD game and should theoretically be very good quality given the company's past experience with flash storage however they haven't had heaps of time to prove themselves yet.

the 330's are newer !! .. i think your thinking about the 320's

the 330's are pretty much 520's ..with board labled b2 and less channels to the nan flash… so a 330 is a 520 in every way but didnt meat the QTY requirements of the 520 so they reduced channels, and warranty to 3 years and labed the circuit board b2.

This info is on every review i could find on the intel 330 drives
Same controller, same flash ram, same everything as the 520 :) AMD, intel & Nvidia do this with CPU's and GPU's all the time

B&H has this slightly cheaper. The 480GB is around $400 shipped: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/857320-REG/SanDisk_SDS…

  • Yes, but as I said this is local stock. You can have it today (if you're in Vic.

Just going to vouch for Scorptec in general. I've used them a bit recently - the staff are polite and efficient and they seem to have quite competitive pricing. Good company to deal with.

    • Scorptec are just as good as pccasegear… those two stores are both awesome.

I often buy from them. I like that you can order online and pick it up, and you get the receipt mailed to you, so if it fails under warranty you can tell when you bought it and not have to dig around to find a lost piece of paper.

  • Quite good, though not as good as SS's deal a few weeks back. They ran out of stock before I could get a 240GB :(

  • Scorptec is good - service levels up where PC Case Gear used to be.
