These things have always felt like such a trap of a purchase. A usb microphone at this price range is only going to perform well when it's right next to your mouth and turned all the way down. But the size of this thing makes you want to put it in the corner next to your side monitor and it's going to perform worse than a headphone mic.

I saw a deal for a USB2020+ recently here- if you can snag that and a mic arm, it's going to perform much better.

    • I agree on the size, I have no idea why it has to be so obtusely shaped. Mine is off the stand and fixed under my 'Teams monitor', which also has the webcam mounted on top.

It performs pretty well, I can be turned around to one of my other screens and have no problems with volume. Sits around 60cm from my normal seated position.

    • They work fine at a distance tbh, its a great in a pinch solution if your audio needs a bit more clarity, but its a dead end route if you need professional level.

      • They pickup sound at a distance, and that's the problem, dog 5km away barks and it hears it.

That's why the recommendation was to turn it all the way down and talk up close.
But if doing that then might as well be a proper dynamic mic which has inherent background noise rejection and won't pickup the birds farting outside.

A digital noise gate would get the job done, plenty of programs that provide that. If you go to the effort of a dynamic mic then you are probably looking for something in the professional space anyway. Should never rely on the mic alone to gate unwanted noises.

    • need a boom arm style mic holder + maybe add a pop filter if serious about getting better voice in game/dc.

  • The non-iCE version was on here the other day and I think comments had some complaints about iCE. What's the disadvantage what does it even mean

If you're directly in front of mic, this will do fine.

I use one with this program https://vb-audio.com/Voicemeeter/index.htm and I get compliments how great my audio sounds.

So if you are wanting to have good sounding audio cheap and simple- this will 100% do the trick, mounted on a $25 boom arm.

  • These are quite large in size.
We use the nano one more

  • New golf tee sorted thks.

  • decent audio quailty for the price, but the size just too much. blues stuff always bulky….
