Need some reccommendations for a prepaid mobile wifi service/device. Does not have to be 5G although that would be a bonus. Only needed for a month till NBN arrives. Prefer a storefront I can walk in and purchase. Or even someting I can purchase from the aftermarket.
Telstra network works well where I am, on both 4G and 5G. Maxed out my monthly mobile quota, and telstra wont allow me to upgrade sim plan, unless I payout remainder of device.

1-200gb would be enough for the kids. My mobile quota rolls over in a few days.
Does your NBN plan come supplied with a modem that has 4G backup? If you already have the modem, chances are when you power it on, it'll fail over to 4G if your fixed line hasn't been established yet = free.
Previous owner left behind NBN FTTC modem, along with a basic Netcomm modem. Non 4G. Sucks.
I do have an older Telstra smart modem with 4G. Would I be able to just slot in a sim and use that?
I believe they're supplied with a pre-loaded SIM. Check the slot. If there's one in there, chances are it's the one that came shipped with it. Power it up and you may find it fails over to 4G after a few minutes. Worth a shot.
No good. Interested to see if I can throw in a telstra prepaid mobile broadband sim and get that working. Dont see why it wont work.
