Getting error “This event is not available at the moment”

    • Maybe try again. I checked link, it works fine.

      • Yup works in incognito, probably issue with my membership

    • Same issue but I copied and pasted the item name in search in my Catch app. Worked perfectly

    • We all need a wallet to put all that cash 🤑💰 in. I think it's a good bargain for that price. Specially being RFID blocking.

        Also claims REAL LEATHER.
Thanks OP. 2 on the way.

        Specially being RFID blocking.

        A solution looking for a problem…

        • I guess if the RFID component actually works, then those people who choose to use them, will never know.

  • Isn't it easier to keep your cards on your phone?

I know some places wouldn't accept, so maybe both are needed.

    • Isn't it easier to keep your cards on your phone?

      Yes

I know some places wouldn't accept, so maybe both are needed

The technology is the same. If you can tap and pay with a card you can tap and pay with a phone. If a business wants my money then they need to make it as easy as possible for me to give them it or I go elsewhere.

      • Membership cards at RSL and sporting clubs seem to be lagging behind in this respect.

      • Got caught out last year when tried to pay for parking at a major shopping centre in Sydney. Need a physical card to pay. Lucky I have a debit card with me.
Never leave home without my physical cc from there.

Here's a tip: drive to the boom gate then push the buzzer and say the machine is not accepting your phone payment. They will just let you out, no credit card required.

The tech is indeed identical, but I have run into at least one parking ticket machine that would accept contactless cards but using a phone would just crash it for about ten minutes. Badly implemented software I have no doubt, but these situations do exist (even if they are getting less common).

Come back and tell us how your first time in a foreign country with a flat battery goes then, mate.

      • -4

iPhone will still work with a flat battery I believe

    • Yeah it's easy.

Aus paypass wouldn't work in a lot of countries though.

    • +4

I was at the pub and some 50-60 year old(No insult) used his phone, and i felt embarrassed using a card! Bahaha

      I'm just use to it!

      • Insult taken.

Let's see how smug you are when your phone runs out of battery ;)

I reckon there'd be a lot of OzBargainers (like myself) who still use at least some physical cards like Coles prepaid Mastercard/Vanilla Visa and Flybuys cards (which are still required to redeem Flybuys dollars). Those are pretty much the only physical ones I still use. But I don't actually store then in my wallet (which I keep in a drawer to store some other physical cards and sometimes cash).

      • I noticed that the self serve machine asks me if I want to covert points to dollars now if I'm out and there's enough points

        • Yeah but it doesn't actually let you pay with the dollars without the physical card, right? That's what I meant - physical card still required to swipe to pay using Flybuys dollars.

          • @MiscOzB: I work at Coles and I've seen customers get a prompt that asks if they would like to redeem 2000 points for $10 off with the options deny, accept, and cancel. It just adds a $10 deduction to the tab.

However, it does not work for me, so I have no idea what makes it work for some people and not for others.

I still use cash. Does that make me sexy?

    • I was overseas and someone stole my phone. Luckily I kept my physical cards in wallet.

THIS RFID-BLOCKING wallet DOES NOT BLOCK RFID.

      LOL!

    Can't add to cart?

    Click, "add to cart"….
    Click on "checkout"….

"You have no items in your cart. "

    • Still adds to my cart

Maybe Catch.com knows your username that's why? Lol

I've always found these to be pointless. Considering how close someone needs to be, with a device that can scan my cards when they're in my pocket and a wallet, and for the length of time it takes to do so, I've already walked away.

    • Ever line up for immigration?

      • +1

Ever had 2 cards next to each other in your wallet and it won't work…

        The cards block each other…

So I dunno how this is any different unless you only have 1 card in your wallet?

    • Walk around times square nowhere near anyone and watch what your phone does at least 3 or 4 times. Antennas exist.

      • +1

        What's does it do?
        Never been to Times square….

          • @G-rig: It's Times Square. Google it mate.

            • @tangobox: Just winding you up
That's right, named after the NY Times

PS. Doesn't look like you can fit a passport in it
Better off just carrying around the bare minimum.

Please tell us for those of us who haven't had such an opportunity.

My guess is nothing happens. This sounds like Facebook FUD.

      • +2

I've been to Times Square. I noticed the topless women covered in body paint. It wasn't my card that was pinged.

  • +1

Wallet does not actually block RFID abuse, as per the comments by a bunch of reviewers on Amazon.

  • +6

Has anyone ever had their card details stolen via RFID before? Like I understand the concept and it works in theory but I cant say I have ever heard of it happening, it just seems so unlikely.

    • +3

Never. Not once, ever. Not from my phone or bank card.
I do remember someone telling me cards can be scanned by people driving past houses. They claimed it must be true because they saw it on Today Tonight.

      • -1

Its definitely possible, and energisation of the card remotely is just a function of antennas and amplification.

Its been reported as happening enough times, particularly in touristy areas, to take precautions.

        • +1

Yeah, but reported by who, where and when? Any kind of facebookery doesn't count as a source, just FYI :)

          • -1

@Loopholio: It certainly does if enough primary sources report the same thing. You're not forehead bulgingly smart because you write off crowdsourced observation entirely.

    • +1

They more likely to steal your whole wallet lol..

Just walk around with a fake burner one.

    • +1

To start with, if you have more than one card very close to each other, any reader won't be able to obtain an accurate read.

  • Nice wallet
Genuine leather looks good quality with good stitching
