Kleenex Tissues Price Jump from $2.20 to $3?

https://www.bigw.com.au/product/kleenex-everyday-facial-tiss…

We've always had these from Amazon subscription and they were 190 after discount. Suddenly they have jumped up. Looking around at seams supermarkets sell at $3 a pack and Chemist Warehouse says it's 3.50 off a $4 Rrp. That is a pretty big jump. What on Earth is happening?

My lastr delivery was February 17th and it was 2.20 before discount.

Prices for everything everywhere keep going up, but it's the facial tissues that finally open your eyes and confusion?

  • +3

Ooo la de dah, Kleenex branded tissues. Just use Quilton like the rest of us.

    • +1

I have quite a few boxes of Quilton from Amazon deals, but I can see why people might not want to use them. About 1 in 8 boxes has every second tissue joined together (not cut properly at the factory) and I am currently on a box where the whole thing is 1-ply.

      Coles brand even cheaper.

  • Is gas bill still up ?

  • Kimberly-Clark the owner company was down $245m in profits last year and this price increase is likely the result.

    • +2

They didn’t sell enough tissues over COVID? That’s kind of surprising

      • +8

prolly cause profits in 2021 were crazy and in 2022 eberyone had hoarded enouff for 5 years

      • exactly, prices funnily didn't jump during the tp crisis.

  • Hand towels 2 ply. 160 sheets for two dollars.

    Tissues are upper class

People need to decide to go without sometimes and stop buying. If enough people exerted enough self control then prices would likely decrease. But can we collectively go without? I unfortunately don't see it.

Getting too expensive, guess I'll just go back to doing it into socks.

    • +4

where are you getting 200 odd socks for $4?

      • +9

Ever wondered where that one sock goes from your washing…… ;)

        • Now I'm going to be laughing my ass off everytime I fold the washing. Thanks.

    • Be environmentally conscious and save it up in an old shoe box under the bed like that one dude on reddit

    • The Ozbargain way is to use one sock until it becomes solid enough to be a blunt object (and therefore a weapon), and then switch to a new sock.

You can also be extra conservative and only use socks that have holes.

"What on Earth is happening" - It's called price gouging, why? - because they can blame the 8% increase in the CPI
Coles and Woolies home brand tissues of 224 a box have gone from $1.00 a box 12 months ago to $1.70 now. Yep, gouging to the exstreme

ACCC is lost in the wilderness- joke pricks.

    • The largest part of CPI is rent and this has gone up tremendously. If CPI stays high as a result, interest rates will increase. Ironically, landlords charging more will lead to higher rates and landlords charging more and CPI staying high. Until people can't afford it, or government acts.

  • Maybe it's time to invest in some hankees? Or just blow your nose with TP.

    • Snort and spit is free
      .

    • Maybe just use old newspaper? Recycleable, environment friendly, gentle on trees.

  • Sunrise Rice 5 kg at Coles regular price $16, when on sale it's $9. Now it's $9.90 sale

  • They're probably matching the exact same price (Non S&S price) on Kleenex's amazon page, likely to sneak in a few extra cents

  • Ben Stiller (Ted), is that you?

  • lol 🤣🤣🤣

Similar story across many grocery staples, e.g. bag of frozen broccoli @ woolies: last year = $2.50, last month = $3.20, now = $3.80. A dozen eggs' price increased 4 times the last 12 months. Bread up, meat up. It's crazy, I don't recall price rises this widespread, this fast before.

  • You think that is bad? $4.50 for the aloe vera box. Yep, $4.50 for 140 tissues.

    • when you're doing nutting all day, your skin starts to get a bit dry, what can you do — aloe plant won't grow fast enough to make my own

  • What on Earth is happening?

When did they last jump to $2.20? Last decade, century?

Some people only understand continuous/trickle jumps. others can manage with step jumps.

  • All the homebands Tissue box (WWS, Coles, ALDI, etc) has also increased to ~$1.70 from ~$1
