  • Has anyone got extended warranty process done by viofo ? Havent heard back from them

    • My A129 duo IR stopped working. I reckon it got fried during those 40°C days. I got them replaced under warranty. Just keep your receipt. They also did not reply on my extension, but the warranty was also honoured. It was nearly 12 months before I applied for an extension.

    Stop procrastinating and get one!!!

    • Damn! Did you get the number plate?

    • Exactly the reason why I am buying one.

    • +5

Nice! A motorbike from a non-right turning lane tried to cut my wife off from the left side as she entered the intersection to turn right on a right green arrow. The motorcyclist denied it was her fault but our dashcam footage made it clear that our description of the accident was correct, and the insurer approved it as a not-at-fault claim. Had to pay zero excess which pretty much paid for the camera. As a result I bought another set so now I have 360 degree coverage front, back and both sides lol… might buy a battery pack to have them run longer in parking mode.

      • Ooo good idea. Hadn't thought of using a power bank for the parking mode 🤔. Any idea how long the 10k one would go? A week?

        • I'd love to know this too.

          • @theguyrules: Having read some more, it appears one of the reasons dashcam batteries are more expensive than a common battery packs is that they are liFepo4 rather standard lipo. Apparently this allows for a longer lifespan and decreased likelihood of turning into a spicy pillow given the constant charging and discharging this application entails and the occasionally very hot environment they’re subjected too when parked in the sun.

@simulacrum: Yep, I had that thought just after posting my comment. Probably not ideal to leave a standard battery pack in the sun!

        • Not sure seems the 96Wh ones go for 30 hours or so (https://www.blackboxmycar.com/pages/blackvue-b-130x-vs-black…)

Not sure why the capacity of the official ones is so small.

    • How did you set this up? I thought they got rid of parking mode from the software?

      • It's just normal mode. It's recording 24/7. Power provided by cigarette lighter.

        • Does this mean cig lighter gives always on power? Mine turns off soon after the car is switched off.

      • Are you saying this doesn't have parking mode? Viofo also list it as a feature for this model

      • I think it still has time-lapse and low bit. It had buffered mode but has been removed. Someone please correct me if i am wrong. I also bought ine to replace my 4 years old blueskysea b1w which surprisingly still works great

      • If your car doesnt have constant power to the 12v socket you will need to hard wire it to one of your cars fuse box with fuse taps and the hardwire kit they sell separately. I have mine wired up to the fuse box under my glove box. Youtube a tutorial, its fairly straight forward

    • In this sort of situation, would your insurer still cover you if you didn't have dash cam footage or the other drivers details? Assuming you had typical comprehensive cover.

      • +1

Yes but you would have to pay the excess.

  • Thanks

  • Thanks i was so devo'd I missed the last deal

  • "used my 200$ amazon gift card from previous ozbargain deal."

Fill me in so I don't miss out on this next time! :(

  • Can you only have the front camera connected and install the rear at another time?

  • Looks like it is 100% claimed now.

  • Dammit. Was looking at specs and by the time I circled back to purchase… they were all gone :-(

  • OOS

  • +1

Did my research and decided to pay a bit more for the A229 rather than the A129

    • +3

So $150 on top of a $200 product is “a bit” for you!

      • +2

Yeah I always wish I have a bit more money to upgrade from a Toyota Camry to a Lamborghini Urus.

    • +1

It is a better product but cost a lot more!

    • +1

Meh. Rear camera at 2k 30fps is absolutely useless if it reduces front camera from 2k 60fps down to 2k 30fps.

      I'd much rather 2k 60fps front + 1080p 30fps rear.

I wouldn't buy the A229 at all. I'd rather get the A139 dual channel at that price point.

$199 for GPS logger model from viofo themselves.
Not sure why GPS logger version is cheaper than non-GPS model

    https://www.viofo.com.au/product/a129-plus-duo/

    • Nice, might get this one

    • Looks like they've upped the price

  • Can these operate as a reverse camera?

    • +1

      Screen is pretty small

  • My just continually beeps at me these days so ove turned it off. Ideas?

    • beeping usually means its not recording, are you sure it was recording? (shows a solid red light under ‘REC’ instead of flashing red light)

      • Check your SD card

  • damn missed it :(

  • Price back down to $199 (+ 0.99)
