Help Finding Laptop for Folks under $1500 (Min 15", Windows 10)

I just noticed my folks laptop is almost dead and want to buy them something under $1500. They're retired 70+ year olds so it's only going to be used for basic stuff. Dad listens to a lot of music on headphones and watches YouTube all the time. It's going to need to be windows 10 also. Prefer it not to be all grey, all black / dark blue is fine or grey and black keys. Touchscreen would be really nice if can get one. I am using my 28 degrees card with price guarantee so would be okay spending a lot more if it's likely it will come down much in price over the next 12 months. Thanks in advance.

  • I'd go a refurb dell for $500, not sure what they're going to get out of a $1,500 machine.

I am guessing the key colours is so they can see them easier?

    Intel NUC M15?

Note that there are 2 variants: The NUC that's equipped with Intel Core i7-1260P will have a touchscreen.

The Core i5 variants do not have touch.

    • Another vote for this.
I bought the m15 touch for my in-laws (same age) for a similar use case

  • The catch here is that you've specified Windows 10.
I don't think you will be able to find any new computer with Windows 10 on it.

I would advise talking to one of the refurb sellers.

    • It would be easy enough to downgrade on most hardware.

      • I know licenses are forwards compatible, typically, but are they backwards compatible?
The other catch is potentially new laptops only ever sold with W11 may not have suitable drivers for W10.
