Nice combo deal if you have a Westpac card to link.

  • Good deal! Is Stgeorge / Bank of melbourne card considered for extra 10%?

  • Can anyone tell me how to link Westpac card or how it actually works to get the 10 % please ? much appreciated.

  • All 5 of my Westpac lounge transactions didnt track via app and browser worth a few hundred dollars. I reported missing cashback claims painfully and when I contacted Shop back all they gave me was yes you are eligible to open a claim as a response. Sticking to regular cash back and flybuy points bonus from now.

Sorry to hear you haven't had them track! I know how painful that can be.

A few pointers in case any of these help, as I've had a few Westpac cashbacks go through now successfully and generally speaking I find both ShopBack and Cashrewards rock solid due to following these guiding principles:

      • For Westpac bonus cashback, make sure you've added your Westpac card details to ShopBack in the Manage Payment Methods section
      • Login to the retailer's site (eg First Choice) before clicking the Shop Now link on ShopBack (every additional handoff is an opportunity for the tracking token to be discarded)
      • But don't add anything to the cart before clicking the Shop Now link on ShopBack - your cart needs to be empty
      • Check to see on the ShopBack page if there are any exclusions that apply, whether its discount codes or products not applicable
      • Click the Shop Now link on ShopBack
      • Stay on the retailer's site in the tab ShopBack opens as if your life depends upon it, don't open any new tabs or visit tabs you had open prior to clicking the Shop Now link which activates the tracking token
      • Pay via credit card / debit card, don't use PayPal (every additional handoff is an opportunity for the tracking token to be discarded)
      • For Westpac lounge bonus you have to pay with your Westpac card - so don't accidentally pay with PayPal with BWS just because you have it saved (this happened to me recently! ouch)

If you're already doing the above and still had the issue with it not tracking, maybe you could share which retailers you had tried to use the Westpack lounge with? It's worked with both First Choice and Apple for me so far.

      • I have done all of that and availed of other offers via westpac lounge. Liquorland, First Choice and BWS. All the booze/important ones. Makes it even harder after youve drank them all.

        • So you got the regular SB cashback tracking, just not the Westpac bonuses?

          • @kickling: No tracking whatsoever on these ones. Showing that I clicked through when I report missing as in the dates of transactions showed

            • @pikeypincher: I only get the "no tracking" issues with First Choice and Liquorland.

            • @pikeypincher: Something is wrong with your (high) security and/or cookie management then. Something is getting blocked somewhere.

      • Wait - So you're saying aaaalll we've got to do is stand on one leg, pat our heads while rubbing our tummies, while yodeling in a falsetto, on the night of a full moon while mercury is in retrograde?

Seriously, it's getting to the point where unless the savings is really quite large (and I don't necessarily mean large discounts on small items), AND the product can be returned AFTER the cashback is denied, appealed, and denied again … Then it's not worth it. But how many items ever meet those lofty standards? Even for items you were going to buy anyway, the hassle of this crap is often not worth the cash back.

Have only had one fail with Westpac in the past two weeks of participating, and that was with ebay (when it was 10% + 10%) and the ozb rep here was excellent as always and manually credited me with my missing 10%.

Apart from that, all successes. I always use the app and take a screenshot as evidence.

  • i like to do screen recordings of the whole process incl. cashback t&c's, although i've never had an issue with tracking for a while

  • Anyone getting errors on payment? i have tried on laptop and mobile: "There was an error saving your checkout information."

Can't get the Westpac 10% extra if I cant pay with CC…
