Saw these prices in JB Hi-Fi today
Thanks. First time poster!
Can anyone attest to any of these models? I am looking particularly for active noise cancellation for a 12 hour flight coming up, these are significantly cheaper than the other options put forward (airpods pro 2nd gen and bose quietcomfort). I know given the price I am not going to get the same level of quality, but are these what one would consider "good enough"? Is the difference in transparency mode that noticeable? as id probably use that in every environment outside of plane trips, I much prefer hearing the outside world.
Looking at the Elite 7 Pros primarily, which sits a bit nicer in my budget.
It would be very uncomfortable to wear any in ear earphone for long period of time (personally an hour is my max). If your case use is long period of times on noise cancelling I think over the ears are the way to go
To each their own but I find my elite 4s more comfortable to wear for extended times than my Sony 1000XM4s.
That said, noise cancellation in over ear headphones is much better, so I'd still opt for them on a plane.
I have 65ts and 75t pro, find them very comfortable to use every day.
I have had a ton of wireless earbuds over the years and these are among the most comfortable for me.
I dont use the hear though (the transparency mode you talk about), I never liked how that sounds but it doesnt block out nearly as much as over ears do so its not been much of an issue.
I also use some cheap waterproof tozos and they aren't as good but a shitload cheaper and I dont get suicidal if i lose a earbud lol
I wore my 65t all flight long two days ago on a 6 hour flight, no comfort issues plus in some ways they are more comfortable as you can sleep and tilt your head into the headrest without the over ear getting in the way. I’ve never really had discomfort from wearing these
On the other hand my over ear XM3 do get tiring
I fly regular, and I fully agree that headphones are the way to go. Much more comfortable and they block out noise much better. SoundPEATS A6 are good value, currently discounted too.
Top Tip:: If there is a screaming child, wear ear plugs under the headphones and turn the headphones all the way up :')
That being said, Jabra make my favourite earphones, and I also love their headsets for work.
I did consider this, but I also have to think beyond flight usage, earbuds will get used plenty, over ears likely will gather dust after my trip.
Fwiw I also get around at work with AirPod 1s in for 4hrs at a time. You make a good point, I agree but I don’t want to spend big on something that won’t get used after the trip
i had the 7 pro's. they were good but often had issues where they either cut out momentarily or the left wouldn't turn on if i removed the RHS out of the case first. Other than that, great sound for the price if you use the Sound+ app.
Argh that sort of stuff annoys the crap out of me, “just works” is one of the big points I should’ve added.
yeah mate, i eventually traded it in for Airpod Pro 2's at JB. Lucky i purchased extended warranty through JB. I'd probably never purchase earphones from anywhere else tbh. Their warranty is very favourable imo.
If you end up with Elite 7 Pro's you won't be too disappointed. They fit snug and i rarely had ear fatigue…They also dont fall out of your ears when you are taking off your jumper like my Airpods Pro 2's do.
@ExtraSalt: Great info, thanks mate I really appreciate it, I'm gonna do another look at my budget and see if I can stretch for the airpods I think. They sound great but the passthrough mode leaves a lot to be desired(supposedly from reviews) which is pretty big for me as the only time I would have it in ANC mode would be during train trips and flights.
@doobey1231: What’s your streaming service? If you are on iOS then you need to be on Spotify or Apple Music otherwise they sound pretty flat. Transparency mode is pretty good imo. I used them on a plane yesterday heading back from Sydney and the ANC worked surprisingly well.
If you get them from JB, pay the extended warranty. It covers a lot and if in year 2 or 3 (push to 3) you have issues including battery capacity, they give you the original purchase price (less warranty) toward the next pair of your choosing
@ExtraSalt: that sounds like a pretty decent gig tbh. Yeah on iOS with Spotify, I am going to ask around if I have any friends with them, i think I really need to try them out more than anything else. I am not picky on much but I dislike that noise block out feeling so much this is the first time in like 5 years ive considered rubber buds again
I have the Elite 4 Actives for gym use and it does a pretty decent job of blocking out most noise - I can still hear the music when they blast it from a HIIT session but still does a decent job. No comfort issues from wearing 60-90 mins.
I never use the hear through function as I feel the audio quality degrades quite a bit.
I also have the Sony XM3 over ears and they are obviously much more comfortable and better at ANC, but the 4's still do a decent job by comparison considering form factor and price.
Well I still regularly use my Elite 3’s. 3 times a week I walk for 100-odd minutes and never had an issue while on the move. Sound is pretty good but clearly newer models will be better.
As @ExtraSalt says, the main issue is the LHS won’t connect at times. I just put them both back in the case, give them a “magic shake” and put ‘em in my ears and they generally work (may have to repeat process)
Quality is prob 70-80% of my kids’ AirPods Max Gen 2, so good enough for me
I have the Elite 4 and have for a while now. They're great headphones, I wear them for hours a day and they have great sound and noise cancellation. The hear-through mode also works very well for when you are out and about :)
I've just been on a 28hr flight 2 weeks ago, using the 7 Pros. Lasted almost the whole way including the stopover with the headphone charging in the case. I was super comfy with the headphones and ANC worked a treat for me especially with a crying baby close by
Also is available on Amazon for $1 cheaper in most cases. Might help if anyone has prime and wants it quicker than Jabra will ship.
Just ordered the Elite Active 4 earlier this morning, which will be delivered tomorrow.
If anyone has 10% or 15% off Ultimate gift card bought before like me, same price at Officeworks, $1 more at JB.
Doesn't come with the free wireless charging pad though does it? Can't see it listed
Great pickup, looks like the 7 Active and 7 Pro include a free wireless charging pad (whilst stocks last), directly through Jabra. Worth waiting a bit for the freebie there.
Any recommendations for something significantly better for voice calls than wf xm3s? Or are all tws buds not going to be much better
From my quick look at rtings for a different set all the top ones have a similar rating for calls.
Might just be a thing of the mic being so far
Was looking at the same thing and wondering if anyone has first hand experience
I bought a pair of Jabra Elite 7 Pros specifically for work calls (because of their marketing) and they were very poor, constant complaints from people who couldn't hear me. Looking at the Jabra subreddit, it seems like it's a design flaw rather than a faulty unit. The ANC was also non-existent although I wasn't as concerned about that.
I ended up returning them and buying a pair of Soundcore Liberty 4's instead - night and day difference in both call quality and ANC. Also much smoother multipoint.
@Boro: Weird since they rate them as the best mid range earbuds for calls
https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/best/earbuds-phone…
@brocky2006: Yep, the rtings.com review was also a reason why I initially went with the Jabras. I really wanted to like them as they were light, comfortable and looked good, but borderline unusable for calls.
I love tts over my head. Perfect for noise cancellation.
I love tts over my head
What?
I had the 7 active. Went through 4 pairs in 9 months, build quality is not good. Eventually gave up and I'm waiting for Sony's to go on sale again.
One side continually disconnecting, one side not charging, the case broke multiple times. I'd avoid all of these if you're looking for longevity.
I lost my case…
Not only were the replacements insanely expensive they are almost all unavailable or on backorder.
I have the Elite Active 75t but can’t tell if any of these are an upgrade. I’ve had them for over 3 years now and whilst they’ve been great, the sound isn’t as clear as they used to be. Any suggestions as what to replace them with? Thanks
pull the silicon ear tips off and give the mesh a good clean with alcohol and old tooth brush head.
Anyone know if they are all touch controlled?
None of them is touch controlled. They all use buttons.
also at @JBHiFi, HN and Amazon
Extra $10-$15 on offer if buying from Good Guys e-bay. Depend on what code you use (SNSMD3 or FEBSNS23)
I recently “upgraded” to the elite 7 pros, from a pair of 75t which I had used and abused for years, I had glued the side button on as it had detached but when I got a new phone you actually need to press both earbuds to enter pairing mode so now they’re paperweights.
Disappointed as the noise cancellation on the electric 7 pro is nothing compared to the old model, I assumed being several years “newer” and with pro in the name they would be similar if not better, was absolutely gutted. I should have just got another pair of 75t from eBay.
Sorry to hear about that but appreciate your insight.
Im using the 85T which are great as buds, but does anyone know how these work on calls when communting? Most BT Buds end up ppicking up all surrounding noise which is a deal breaker and im desperate to find a the best compact solution.
