Setup my Meross door opener without a hitch. Big problem is this though - it only works when my phone is connected to local wifi…!
Leave home and the device becomes unresponsive. Come back home connect to wifi and it's back online!?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
Nothing - until someone accidently leaves the garage door open and your 20 minutes from home.
Or you get a delivery and want it left in the garage.

Check the Meross app has access to mobile data?
Using Iphone mine did this also. I worked out it was because I didnt have a apple hub compatible device within my home network. As soon as a brought my Apple TV i then had full access outside of my home
Network.
So i believe you will need equivalent for android also, eg google home device

I assume something is blocking it , probably your routers ports are not open to send the data from meross to internet.

iPad is not supported as a home hub on the new, more reliable and more efficient Home architecture, which will be available as a separate upgrade in the Home app.
No that's only to use with Apple Home. Should work out of the box, remotely with the Meros app.
this, you can use apple tv, homepod, etc has the hub.
Did you use MEROSS app to open/close the garage door?
Good question. It should work outside of home network without any additional hardware if using the dedicated meross app.
I prefer to use voice control via Siri so that required Apple TV device. I believe to use google will also need a google home in the house.
If using the dedicated meross app outside of the home and still not working, then this is a separate issue.
Funnily enough the meross app doesn't work either. It's because it automatically reverts to HomeKit if you have the app I think. Will try and delete the Home app and reinstall to see if that makes a difference…
I always have to refresh the app page (swipe down) before the open button works… dunno why

if you are using the meross app it should work. it's just when using home app that you need a home hub.
Add a widget from meross app to your control bar and it will work!!
So I haven’t installed the sensor yet. I’m assuming when I do it will fix the obstructed issue?
The sensor is required to tell if the door opened\closed correctly, so you get obstructed if you don't use the sensor.
I have an issue with Apple Home always says "obstructed" but the meross app doesn't.
I was going to increase the timeouts, but what's the point if Meross app doesn't have the issue.
I am only testing Apple Home with an iPAD, and honestly the experience is unreliable.
