Yum, i've got a bit of a thing for bubble tea, aka "expensive cordial with stuff in it"
There are 5 different bubble tea stores on that street (and on the side streets) but this one has always been the quietest…
The one in Clayton was alright?
I was in Carnegie Tuesday night and didn’t see Gong Cha open. Must have missed it. Though Rich tea on Rosstown Rd is already pretty good IMO
The one in Clayton is pretty popular iirc, but at Carnegie the bubble tea stores are quite competitive and the demographics just aren’t the same as Clayton.
Rich tea (and their cakes) is really good but really expensive
Haha thanks for sharing. I only drink Rich tea’s 杨枝甘露 so haven’t got the impression of being more expensive.
Guess they’re named as such for a reason
Not sure what you mean by competitive; Carnegie has only had 2 bubble tea stores on Koornang Rd (Pure Boba and Sharetea) until recently and Pure Boba is usually pretty empty. I haven't seen too much patronage of bubble tea here but 3 new ones have opened so all the best to them.
@Deseret: I am talking about the current situation here:
- Rich Tea
- Pure Boba
- Yi Fang
- Gong Cha
- ShareTea
Popularity-wise from what I saw feels like ShareTea / Rich Tea > Pure Boba / Yi Fang > Gong Cha
Competitive means having too many choices of bubble tea stores, but the primary consumer demographic in Carnegie is not the target audience.
@blueastro: Righto, thought you meant competitive demand which I thought odd. But I totally agree that the supply is too competitive here. Personally would've preferred more brunch/dessert/bakery places around here.
How was the queue? Super crowded?
