Works out to between $17.50 - $19.50 per person depending on which deal you buy, which is

  • in the ballpark of / a bit more than what I'd typically spend when I eat yum cha
  • an ok deal if you want an excuse to stuff yourself / eat more of the expensive stuff (which you might not tend to do normally).

FWIW, I've eaten there a few times and the food is decent enough for me that I've gotten one of these myself. You can read other reviews on the relevant Urbanspoon page.

so let me get this straight. if you don't eat all your food they can charge you for it?

    • If you don't finish eating what you ordered or brought to your table.
But personally never been charged. (Maybe when you left a lot of it)

    • Take your own doggie-bag. :)

In a normal (non all you can eat) dining situation, you pay for everything you order regardless of whether you eat it, leave it, or doggy bag it. In a fixed cost buffet situation, doggy bags are usually not allowed, so ordering more than you can eat means the food goes to waste and the restaurant loses money. So I suppose they basically don't want you to abuse the offer.

Exactly, I've seen some hooligan types who purposely take stacks.. Then may nibble on few things and makes the restauranteur suffer. Unfair.

Hmm, that's roughly what my friends and I pay in Sydney without being gluttons. If they enforce the eat what you order rule, then there is little saving. Unless you are a glutton. :)

    • Hence it's

an ok deal if you want an excuse to stuff yourself / eat more of the expensive stuff (which you might not tend to do normally).

What's the quality like? That's always the big kicker…

The last time I tried an AYCE yum cha in Sydney (now Zilver, formerly Silver Spring back then IIRC) the food was simply abysmal, and that's being generous!

I'm with greenpossum, I've rarely paid more than $25-30pp even when we have really hit it hard!!! Our usual is also ~$20pp & we all tend to leave at least satisfied, if not quite full.

51% like it no Urbanspoon. Doesn't seem good to me about the quality.
But it's great for the price.

    • This is not a normal AYCE yum cha place. It's a Chinese restaurant that serves yum cha during the day, and also offers yum cha at night in addition to their a la carte menu. The AYCE deal is an offer through groupon and AFAIK not available normally "at the door". As for quality, I've already said that I've eaten there a few times and the food is decent enough for me that I think this is an ok deal, but feel free to dismiss my opinion I'm not here to twist anybody's arm :)

  • Have anybody been here before? On reviews, lots of people complaint about waiting 2-2.5 hours for food.

    • +1

yeah. they offer yumcha every night weeknights and there is no wait - they make to your order.
it is only when you go on weekend in the morning/lunch is when you may have to wait, and its not waiting for food but more waiting for seating to get in to the restaurant. hope that helps!

    • waiting 2-2.5 hours for food.

that doesn't sound good if the session is only for 2 hours !!!

I think he mean waiting 2 hours + for a TABLE. On weekend between 12pm-1pm is normal to wait 1 hour + for table. I usually go early (before 11am), than you don't have to wait.

    • Yes I have. Sounds like most if not all of these people are complaining about the long wait for their a la carte menu dishes to be served. This is different to the yum cha service which is by trolley, ie the food is already cooked and ready to serve to your table. You can also request items cooked to order if it's not on the trolleys so obviously these would have a wait associated with them. In any case I personally find it pretty hard to believe that anybody would actually bother waiting 2-2.5 hours for food to be served…

I've been there and the service is extremely poor, food is variable too. Poor service even when they are not busy. We ordered food which never came. When we asked at the end of our meal, they said they had ran out. They didn't even bothered to inform us and there was no apologies. We were also over-charged and the cashier gave us a dirty look when we corrected her. No apologies again. Not worth a visit considering the bad service and variable quality of food!

  • I just bought one voucher. They are actually not too bad. Average yum cha.
btw, how do i find a referral link that i can post (like sumo salad links in the past) so that i can receive $10 per new customer?

  • Think about it..if you have to wait that long for a table then why? must be ok right. The place is in Sunnybank, most of the patrons are chinese…it is a proper Yum Cha place. Most Yum Cha places are notorious for bad service..that's what you associate with Yum Cha…if it's good service then you think hmm…what's wrong with this place. It's the same in Asia, even in NYC and London…I am talking about the real authentic Yum cha restaurants.

It's incredible that they are doing groupon and if you get all the 'Large' items then it's a pretty good deal.

We go there all the time. It's the same owner as Landmark across the road in Sunnybank Plaza. We ave about $15pp so this isn't worth it. Yum Cha is all about sharing anyway…Order 10 varieties to share, ave $5 per dish is still only $50 for 2 people and yeah, we don't even order 10 dishes.

It's an ok deal. Definitely worth going just for the experience and food.
