Got this on a previous deal, works great.

    • Is this a good price?

      • +1

It's cheaper than what I paid for it.

    Looks pretty small for 10000mAh.

    • +8

that’s because mAh is more a marketing number that doesn’t show you the whole picture. A better measurement would be watt-hours. This factors the mAh and the voltage. If a manufacturer uses a low voltage cell, the mAh can look high.

On the flip side, if you have a 90Wh battery (laptop sized battery) with a voltage of 12V then it’ll just have 7,500mAh. This makes it seem as if the laptop battery is smaller than the power bank mentioned in this deal!

      • Thanks mate, for the layperson is this a good lightweight travel powerbank? Ta.

        • +4

Yeah seems like it. It's a shame that they put a micro-USB port instead of a second USB-C port. Seems like a waste in 2023.

Really depends on your use case though. I have a drone to charge so opted for a larger power bank that's also future proof when it went on sale.

          • @neilpatrickharris: Had me puzzled as well.
I looked for a power bank for a upcoming trip yesterday and came across this.
First got excited, until I saw that it uses Micro USB. Which would mean taking an additional cable only to charge the power bank?!

            • @BlueDiesel: USB-c is labeled as an input also, so should be able to charged by that too.

This one is very cool. How much was it on sale?

            • +1

@SickDmith: Bought it for $86. According to all my research, it's by far the best bang for buck when it comes to high capacity power banks. It charges at 100w and can deliver power up to 210w when all three ports are used. It's also one of the only PD power banks to support UPS mode, meaning that you can charge a device from the powerbank, all whilst connecting and disconnecting the power bank to the charger without the powerbank reconfiguring the power on all ports. Useful to power stuff like a NUC or raspberry pi. Also supports low power mode for charging apple watch. The only other powerbank that can rival with this is the anker 737 power core, but that was much more expensive

      • I thought all power banks use the standard 3.7v?

        • I think you're right, in that case mAh is good enough to compare. This seems surprisingly small for a 10,000mAh powerbank then.

        • You are probably right, but the ad says "Voltage 12V", which is confusing. I wonder if that is an error on their part?

          • @slimdusty: Usually that is for the output, 12v charging. e.g. 12v1.5A for 18W charging.

to be honest, i would pay a little extra for the extra cables included in this

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09C8H87J9/ref=syn_sd_onsite_de…

or $10 bucks extra for the 20k one
    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09BN66BSY/ref=syn_sd_onsite_de…

I took the last one i linked for my trip to sydney last week and 20k capacity is more than enough for two or three days of use. 10k would cover one day easy.

I like the cables they come with but it's about 50% longer than the one above. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a super small 10,000mha pack?

      • +3

Also just extra bulk of having useless cables. Don't underestimate how fiddly those cables are. My experience with built in cables is that they're always the most frustrating + are the easiest part to break.

  • Only 1.5A output?

    • -1

Ignore that, it's the Watts that are important.

      • Yet "watts" is amperage times voltage, so if you're charging a device that can only do the standard 5V, then it's "only 1.5 A" and it matters a lot to some.

        • +1

My point is that figure is wrong/misleading - it supports more than 1.5A.

There's a lower limit to the volume of space a lipo cell can take for a given capacity.

If the battery is physically small, it's gonna have a small charging capacity irrespective of the Chinese maths used on the carton.

Noob at powerbanks and going overseas next month.
Would this fast charge quickly if i only need juice to tie over until I get back to the hotel?

  • Thanks OP, bought one, even though i have one, but this is much smaller than mine and more pocketable.

  • Do these batteries have "shelf life" limit?
I would buy another one but still haven't used another 10000mAh one I got before…
This one looks nice though. :)

    • They do. Batteries have chemicals that wear down or expire. Some batteries are better quality and last longer. I wouldn't assume this is a great quality battery.

  • My link has it at $37.99

I'm assuming the purpose of these is if you are unable to use Hotels etc to recharge your devices? I don't seem to ever run out of charge for my phones, watch, earbuds I just recharge them overnight. How would this improve my life, I am a frequent traveller.

    • +1

Good backup, handy to have one in your backpack or suitcase. Had a few occasions where I forget/am unable to charge my phone overnight and using a powerbank can top it up if I really need it.
