Amazon Has Delivered My Package to Another House

Amazon has delivered my package to another house. They are telling me to go around my neighbourhood door knocking to see if I can get it back. Is there anything else I can do?

Have they not advised which other house it was delivered to? Did you speak to Amazon Customer Support before going to OZBargain Customer Support?

    • Yes, spoke to chat. Was told to check areas around house or go to neighbours. Have not advised which house it has been delivered too either. I'm going to try chat again this evening

Usually they want you to do this as the step before they issue a refund. Just have a quick look on your neighbours door step and tell Amazon it isn’t there. Then they will refund you. No need to go crazy checking the whole street or anything.

      • I think that's a very unreasonable thing to ask of you. What if like me, you don't like your neighbours?

  • I had the small issue - got a picture of another house receiving my goods. I went to the online chat and mention getting other people's personal homes pictures etc (privacy laws) and my details are now at the hands of another home - i got a call from the supervisor after that mentioning they are checking it and I did get my parcel within the next 2 hours.

You mean the same pictures freely available on google earth, street etc?

      • -1

Or people just walking down the road…

      • Is your name located above your address in google earth?

  • Try a different chat agent a bit later in the day?

    • Yeah, I will try again I think

    Who was the courier?
My Amazon orders are usually delivered by “Dragonfly Shipping”. They email images when the parcels are delivered.

    • +2

Dragonfly are awesome. They seem to deliver at 7AM with pics so you can grab it on the way to work or start of your day.

      • +1

Your Dragonfly experiences are not my Dragonfly experiences. How many times have I had to contact them about not trying to deliver to my neighbour and then saying they weren't home. Meanwhile I'm sitting there waiting. Probably 30-50 times, as they just employ whoever to make the deliveries. Australia Post, Fedex, etc have no problem.

The other day I got a delivery notification from Dragonfly with no picture of something they had delivered three weeks prior.

      • Agreed, have had nothing but excellent experiences with Dragonfly.

    • Dragonfly is Amazon Flex.

Door knocking would be the quickest way to resolve it - but if you're not the type to do so, then you'll need to leave it in the hands of Amazon. But are they asking you to door knock everyone or were they specific and showed the house to know which one?

It's happened to me a few times and in nearly all cases, Amazon simply sent me the item again. On one occasion, the missing item actually showed up a few days later - my guess is the person that received it actually delivered to me. Another time, I believe it was sent back to Australia Post and they redirected to me.

  • I have had this same issue in the past. Luckily live in a cul-de-sac and mostly know everyone. Check if Amazon has provided photos of delivery location. If package goes missing customer service has always refunded or re-sent my order. Has only happened for two orders out of hundreds.

Same thing happen to me before, after trying multiple Live Chat agent I manage to get a full refund.

About a week later, house down the street hand delivered my missing parcel.

  • Get a refund. I'm sure the Amazon rep misspoke when they told you to "go around your neighbourhood door knocking", that is insane.

    • Not as insane farfetched as you think, that's what AusPost told me to do once.

      • maybe a long time ago, or rep dependent.

my personal experience with a missing auspost delivery was the exact opposite.

after they emailed me the photo of the package and front door, I said "not my door", to which the call centre rep said "ok, whatever you do, do NOT go looking for that door; we will go and retrieve it for you"… some like "you might get shot" was implied, which i thought was a bit odd, since this isn't America - but safety first I guess :D

edit: turned out to be sound advice, the delivery contractor then said the "other guy" never got the package, and Auspost gave me $100 for the trouble… (which covered the item and pain and suffering.. :P)

        • This was late last year and was told by both the agent over the phone and staff at the post office to take a walk up and down my street/ask my neighbors if they took the parcel in.

Got the notification in the morning that my parcel was delivered, called home and they said nothing was delivered. Called up Auspost, was told to check my neighbours if they took the parcel; the driver marked the parcel as safe dropped with a photo so there was nothing more they can do until the driver finishes their route to lodge a missing parcel inquiry.
Went to the post office near work on my lunch break and asked to see the photo. They told me to take a photo of their photo and walk up and down my street to see if it was a neighbour's house.
Looked on Google streetview in the afternoon at an address that's similar to mine (I've been getting their mail occasionally) on the hunch that's where they delivered it to. Called up Auspost, told them what happened, they again suggested I go pick it up myself, I declined and said just lodge the missing parcel inquiry. Luckily for Auspost, the person living at the address they delivered it to dropped the parcel off at my door. On Monday Auspost called saying since that person reported that they gave me the parcel the case was closed.

Cant you see on the app the photo of what the door looks like?

  • This happened to me just now.Aramex tracking showed package delivered but nothing in front of my door.

Checked the other 3 units and found it at the front door of my neighbour.

Amazon are useless. I had to wait for the kind neighbour to deliver it to me. Sucks if you live in an area with dishonest people

  • Same thing happened to me although they said it was delivered and handed to reception which being a home address i do not have a receptionist! they refunded me the money and it came like a week later oddly!

  • Has happened to me several times now. Amazon delivery drivers are completely useless. I've had 50+ packages delivered correctly, about half a dozen mis-delivered.
I've demanded a refund every several time due to their incompetence. They've also emailed me to say I've had a "large percentage" of refund; i just replied it's due to severe incompetence. It's interesting to note that Amazon had never previously taken photos of the delivery spot.
Now, they take photos of the delivery spot.

Just don't accept their incompetence nor expect that to walk around the neighbourhood is a reasonable request; that's just ludicrous.

        the bin thought so.

was there since Friday evening, only saw it on Monday and chucked it out.

        • +1

Did you wash the maggots out of your bin into the street?
          .

  • Same thing happened to me a number of times and each time I say can you please let me know exactly where the parcel was delivered to as there are way too many flats in the area to check. I get them to log a missing delivery and if they say wait 24 hrs then in 24hrs I log a missing parcel (not delivered) and ask them to send it out again, but watch out as they may put in for a delivery that takes a week (non prime delivery).

I was just about to post:

Amazon Has Delivered Someone Else's Package to My House

  • Amazon Lockers avoid delivery to wrong house.

They are telling me to go around my neighbourhood door knocking

uhh…. no. The package hasn't been delivered to your address, they have to send a new one. It's entirely their fault that it was delivered to the wrong address and you don't need to go hunting for it.

Bonus: You may get two packages if you do find it

  • If amazon put the wrong address on your package then it is their fault. If they didn't, then it isn't their fault
