  • would this work in PS5?

    • +1

      Yes, but needs a heatsink

      • Does the PS5 support HMB?

        • No. Better off getting an SSD with DRAM cache.

  • Thanks OP, got one!

  • I got one too. Thank yew OP :3

Anytime we get an NVME deal it's always the same questions. We should make it a guideline to include these two points:
    1. Does it have DRAM?
    2. Does it work on PS5?

      1. Answered in the post and 2. after first comment 😉
      • Sorry not criticising your post at all, just a general thought as I'm always reminded on these posts

        • Yeah I get what you mean

The Tom's hardware review mentions lack of hardware encryption as a con. Does anyone have opinions or concerns about that?

    • +3

Not really a major concern. Most Windows PCs with encryption are using BitLocker so this would have no impact. I think people using hardware encryption on their SSD instead of software is quite niche.

  • Is the SN570 good enough for gaming? is gen4 ssd worth the price? Thanks.

    • +1

Yeah the SN570 is no problem for gaming. Obviously being PCIe Gen3 the speeds are less, but in gaming you're really not going to notice the difference either way.

  • The WD BLACK SN770 got an Editors Award in APC Issue 516

"A blazingly fast drive in day to day use coupled with great price make this a supurb value choice"
"If you're building a mid-range or lower spec PC but don't want to compromise on storage performance the WD Black SN770 is quite a stunning buy"

Of course the SN880 is the top performer

    • APC.
Now that’s a name I’ve not heard in a LONG time
