If like me you don't read all the promo emails that hit your inbox, you may have missed this one if you are a Just Wines VIP member. I've had this membership for 2 years as it has given me a small discount / break even. If I drank more wine it would probably be worth more to me, but unless I open a restaurant it's only of marginal benefit.
Now Just Wines is discontinuing the VIP program and swapping member to the JW Cru membership unless they specifically opt out

I really don't like this, the wording is obscure. I had to re-read it to understand that it's a $30 / month subscription which they keep, in their wallet (unsecured credit anyone?) until you've accrued enough to get your "free" 6 bottles a year, I think I'll just use a bank to save money thanks.
So if I read it right, $360 a year to buy "minimum value of $120" 6 bottles a year. Oh and the other benefits which you can generally get if you talk to them on the phone anyhow.
Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but even I'm spending $360 on wines I choose and getting freebies of their choosing, I'm still struggling to see the value here. And the cringy spelling of 'Cru', is like fingernails down a blackboard.
IF I buy from Just Wines again, I'll just get the 1 month free trial, take the discount and cancel immediately.
They charge you $30 a month and place into your account with them.
Sounds like a desperate cash grab by a company with cash flow problems.
So, if they go belly-up you basically lose and funds they are holding in your account. You would just be an unsecured credit and likely get nothing back.
