Raspberry Pi to run Homebridge

As the topic suggests.

Keep in mind I know nothing of raspberry pi apart from it can run HomeBridge if you don’t have a PC dedicated

  • I’m using a RPI 3+ to run homebridge for my Tuya products and a couple of cameras that the RPI converts to Apple Homekit. Just two cameras will ramp up the CPU usage to the high 90’s due to the ffmpeg conversion process, but if you’re not using that then a RPI3 will handle homebridge just fine.

    • THis is where i'm confused. RPI 3 model B or RPI 3 model B+?

  • A tad off topic. What sorts of IoTs are people running?

  • I’m using a RPI 3 model B+ for homebridge. I also have a RPI 4 but I’m reserving that for retro gaming and other more fun uses!

    • Nice! Now I just need a bargain 😏

  • If you want to run FFMPEG and stuff like Unifi Protect or any kind of camera integration that relies on some decoding then you will probably want one of the RPI 4s. If you are just running basic integrations anything will do.
