Qantas Points Club Question

Hi,

My roll over is the end of April.

I need 110k points to hit QPC, my question is…if i flip a CC now and hit 110k before end of April do I get QPC for 12 months following?

Or do I wait til after April? Ive never hit it, so not sure how it works.

I am thinking NAB CC 90k, plus bonus 20k QFF points = 110k and I can hit that by the end of April easy.

Thanks

  • Don't you need status credits too?

No the 'Points Club' and 'Points Club Plus' don't require you to fly at all. They're meant to reward high spenders cc churners who earn lots of cc points

      • ah..i mistakend it for the frequent flyers program!

You'll get it as soon as you hit 150K points and it will last until end of April 2024.

    Yes… April 2024 expiry.
Might be cutting it close to have the points posted by April. Especially the bonus 20k.

    • Looks like 60 day wait on the 90k as well.
    • They're normally fast.

What if I flip just after April, that's 110k, then flip another card.

I hit 150k, but does that mean I only get it for 9 months?

Just trying to work out the timing of trying to hit 150k.

I always assumed it's for 12 months, but if you hit 150k in September does that mean it's only 6 months til April, or you get it for the following year too?

      • Based on the anniversary date (eg April)
I've just qualified til August 24 on one account.. another is sept and should roll over to sept 24 soon.
Guessing the difference is they both have current pc ..whereas you're not currently pc…maybe someone else without pc can advise…

Even if you hit the spend on day 1 it may take up to 60 days..
20k bonus from qff is hit and miss .more often than not you'll have to follow up to get the points.

  • Assuming your reference to roll over means you're already a member? Then you'll have the same anniversary, so will continue in Points Club if you earn 150/350K in your membership year - and you won't get free lounge passes until the beginning of the next membership year

    • I don't really need membership, but it would be frustrating to only gain it for 6 months.

I just don't understand how it works.

      I'm currently not a member.

I just mean if I hit it September, do I only get membership til April? It's so confusing.

  • Yes, to end of April 2024 if you were to achieve Points Club.

Better to getting a Velocity credit card or similar, Qantas is harder to redeem against.

    • Velocity doesn't seem that good.

I mean, first Krisflyer top flyers get access….then Krisflyer members and then Velocity.

That's alot of channels, it's basically very hard for anyone to use points these days it seems.

So if I hit 150k tomorrow, I get til April 24. If I hit 150k in December I only get til April 24?

      How's that fair?

      • Their rules I guess. Velocity is much better for business class redemptions. There are over 12m Qantas members not to mention all other members fighting for one world redemptions.

      • So roll over is the anniversary of your card membership? I recall when I attained 150K for the first time I got Points Club recognition. That became my anniversary for Points Club going forward. My card fee is charged in December but my Points Club year ends in April. You'll find more expertise at The AFF community
