  • This exact model saved our bacon out camping. In seconds we were on our way again. Love it!

  • Is this overkill for a 3l diesel? Should I just go the 1500A for $89?

    • What I can tell you is I bought the 4000A for a 2.0 petrol and it works great.

    • +2

As a fellow owner of a 3L turbo diesel. I'd get the higher rated one. Overkill is better than under kill when trying to jump start them.

Plus this model has the ability to power laptops and such with the 100W PD port

    • I bought this one and this got my car with a DEAD battery (it had faulty cells it was reading 8.5v) back up and running to get to Battery World. It almost wouldn’t start but it did. The Gooloo battery was depleted after one start. The vehicle was a 2l Diesel.

    • I ran the 4000A one on my 2.2L turbo diesel. The 1000A struggled, whereas the 2000A could do 1 or 2 starts. It probably also depends on the amount of electronics in your car.

Yes it's overkill, even by their own specifications, ie. the 1500 does a 6L diesel, the 1200 worked fine on a 3L diesel (no longer sold). This model better only if you plan to use the USB ports to charge/power other devices. BTW, for that use it's not double the capacity, peak Amps is not Amp Hours or Watts, the 3000 is about 65% more capacity over the 1500.

      • 1500 for 6L diesel is the marketing department being overly enthusiastic.

  • +1

    Bloody good product

  • Does the battery hold its charge for long? The RooBoost jump started I have now started to discharge after just one month sitting in my car, I have to remember to recharge it every 3 months, pretty useless.

    • +1

Ages. Mine lost about 20% after 6 months sitting idle in the car

      • Good to hear.

    • I heard like autowit supercharge 2 is good for those scenarios where that is just a capacitor, using existing low voltage from car battery to bump up and start car.

Aka doesn't really degrade or loose charge if sitting in car. (because its not a battery)

    • Mine lost 1% in 2 months. This exact model.

  • Any risk of exploding with heat when leaving it in the car all the time?

    • +1

I leave mine in the boot of the car. However my boot is shaded and where it is stored is not in direct line of sun.

      • Same. No issues

    • Not if it can't short out (eg get wet) or is not powering anything.

    • Mine is in my boot and my car is parked outdoors in the sun 100% of the time (except when it rains and at night). No issues and the batteries used are LFP chemistry and not Li Polymer. So more tolerant towards heat.

Most people will be absolutely fine with the more compact and lower power $89 gooloo gt1500. Unless you have a super large engine or have camping requirements

  • I have this. Battery display is helpful to let you know when to charge it. Much better to have handy then wait 1-2hr for road service to come to the rescue. Comes with simple bag for storage instead of a proper case as with other (cheaper?) models.

  • +1

had to return mine as it will not charge more than 50%.

    • How long did you have it for?

      • 6 months.

    • I'm also concerned my unit is not charging properly and also around 6 months old. I can't see any gooloo products on Amazon any more, how do I return under warranty?

      • Actually its charging ok, I was using a off the wall GPO with integrated usb charger which I'm guessing didn't have enough juice, so it actually discharged it, I had to use supplied charger.

        • Your Gooloo was charging the wall socket :D

          • @jlogic: I'm guessing that's what probably happened, but I'm sure I've charged it ok off there before, but perhaps that was another smaller unit , as I have 3 gooloos, 4k, 3k and 2k.

Ive has 2 GOOLOO 2000 Both has the USB C port stop working within 3 months and 6 months. Gooloo was horrible about warranty. I ended up giving up and just buying a Blitzwolf and been headache free for 2.5 years and much faster Phone charge.
