  • Cheaper here if you have ebay plus

  • Same price on Amazon as well

  • Does anyone know how these compare to the Taotronics models that were popular on here a couple of years ago?

    • Since those Taotronics are quite old by now in terms of tech progress. I would say the Anker Soundcore options are as good as their direct replacements.

Why they're cheap if they're good?

Does something have to be expensive to be quality? Or are you just conditioned in buying products that are overly inflated?

  • I have the Q45 and not having headphones like this i find them very good! Although i have no idea if $400 headphones would be better. I put them on at work at completely zone out. On the plane i can't hear much and have to turn them off to hear people talking most of the time. I found them very good for the price, but again nothing to compare them to! After wearing them for a few hours i do think my ears get hot as they are quite big speakers with lots of cushion, but im sure thats the same with most, as maybe you cant get good ANC without it being sealed???? Overall pretty good! I would buy them again for sure!

  • There is a very significant improvement in Sound Quality and Noise Cancellation on Q35's over Q30's so if you're in no hurry wait for Q35's to come on sale.

    • It looks like the Q35's are on sale too,

      $149.99 $199.99 You Save: 25% ( $50.00 )

Are you suggesting it regularly sells for less than ~$150? I'm considering taking your advice re q35's over the q30.

Also, do you have any reference re the quality difference, or is it personal experience?

Side note, I also see the Q45's on sale for $164.90

      • That's not really on sale, there was a post here on ozb for $129 for the Q35's but yes I see Q45's are on sale at $164 and that is worth the extra $30 or so for multi-device support. But if a) you're not an audiophile to pickup the difference in sound nor need the extra features Q30 at $112 is the best value cup of tea. But if you just want to go all out the Q45's are able to punch some $500 headphones…

Actually not what I heard but anyway. I heard there is barely any difference and that the earpads on the Q30 actually provided a better seal for some people. Most likely because the new Q35's ones are stitched which the Q30's ones were one seamless piece.

The reason I would recommend the Q35 over the Q30 is for the fact you can use ANC with wired connection (e.g. with plane entertainment). The Q30 couldn't do ANC when wired.

  • FYI, apparently there was a firmware update at some point which removed the ability to use the Active Noise Cancellation when plugged in via aux port. (Now bluetooth only). WTF.

    • The Q30 could never do ANC wired. That's probably a misunderstanding where someone "updated" their Q30's, then tried to use them wired on a plane for the first time after and found out it didn't work.

      • I found a couple of threads online (reddit, yt) where people discussed it's removal after a firmware update. Some of them complained that they predominately used the headphones wired, so my impression is it was in fact removed.
IIRC one reddit thread had a post from a company rep stating it was removed by their upstream - whoever makes a (the?) processor in the device, with an excuse being to improve bluetooth connection stability (iirc).

Perhaps your experience with Q30s was buying them after that firmware update was being shipped with new units.

        • Ok sounds like you have been aware of the Q30's for longer than I have then.

I just checked Amazon.com Date first available for Q30's and it says 2020. I probably started being aware of them as being the "best budget ANC headphones" around last year 2022. And so at the time when searching/reading feedback of course like most people I would read "most recent" feedback, so that's probably where I read mostly about it "not being able to use ANC when wired" straight out of the box.

Oh well I haven't read any reports of this "wired ANC being disabled with firmware" on the Q35's so I still think they are the better buy.
I agree it is a bit sus though, maybe they disabled it on Q30 to encourage the new Q35 sales?

          • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Ive actually never used/heard of these until this thread. Just reading about the Q30s online.

Yeah, this is what concerns me. I'm thinking of getting the Q35 but ANC + aux is important to me, it would be really shitty if they decided to disable it. Perhaps i'll contact the company and ask.

@ssfps: Yeah I'm only saying it because Q45 was just released.
Honestly though I can imagine the negative feedback they received when disabling it on the Q30 was enough to convince them to not do it again. Also there could be some truth behind the need to do it to fix bluetooth chip stability.

              • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: For what it's worth to anyone, their customer support confirms ANC over wired won't be removed in the future:

Thanks for your interest in our products.
Regarding your questions, here are the answers:
                1. Q35 and Space Q45 support ANC in wired mode.
                2. This function will not be disabled by a firmware update in the future for these two models.
